The first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film was released back in August of last year and as far as sales go, was somewhat of a success worldwide. This film is a reboot of the classic original that was released back in the early 1990’s and many critics thought it was going to be better than it was. In fact, the movie was getting very good reviews, but when it hit theaters, the support just did not seem to be there for it.
The movie was made with just $125 million so it did make money as it pulled in more than $400 million worldwide, not to mention the extra money from merchandising the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles name all over again. Just about as soon as the first movie was out of theaters, talk about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 was already happening on the internet. Most movies these days, especially the very popular ones, get followed up with a sequel. Why would this movie be any different?
Even though the first one was getting poor reviews and was nominated for some very bad awards, it appears that a second installment is coming down the line. According to one source online, the next movie is expected to be in theaters by June 3rd, 2016. Recently, it was announced that Stephen Amell was going to be a part of the cast in the second movie. The actor that plays the “Arrow” on the CW is likely to bring the butt kicking skills along, but there is no proof that it will save the franchise.
Other than Amell being added to the mix for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, a couple other characters from the comic are expected to be added to the cast as well. Bepop and Rocksteady are a big part of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics these days and have been since they arrived on the cartoon back in 1987. According to reports, the two will be appearing in the sequel.
Right now, there is no information about who is going to be the actors for these parts. Paramount is sure to release more information as the production of the new movie starts up. According to some fan sites, the new movie could be named “Half Shell”, but that has not been confirmed officially. When an original movie fails to please and a sequel follows, the audience is hoping it will be different and that is what he studio is expecting with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 release next year.
