The first half of the final season of “Teen Wolf” might have less of Dylan O’Brien’s Stiles Stilinski, but for a very good reason according to showrunner Jeff Davis.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Davis says that Stiles will essentially be written out for the first half of Season 6 because the villains’ mission is to abduct people and erase them from their loved ones’ memories.
Jeff says that Stiles’ disappearance will be part of the bigger mystery in the upcoming sixth season. He adds that the Ghost Riders will immediately target Stiles when they arrive in Beacon Hills.
With Stiles has disappeared, Tyler Posey’s Scott and his pack will know how powerful their foes are. With the Nazi werewolf being part of their problems, the final season of “Teen Wolf” is expected to be action-packed.
This means that fans will get more of Stiles during the second half of Season 6 of “Teen Wolf.” Unsurprisingly, this was a clever way to make room for O’Brien’s “Maze Runner 3: The Death Cure” shooting schedule and his recuperation period from his injuries.
The 25-year-old actor sustained an injury while filming the third and final installment of the “Maze Runner” film series. Because of this, the film’s release date was delayed with respect to Dylan’s recovery.
Now that “The First Time” actor has fully recovered, he has resumed filming for his movie and “Teen Wolf” at the same time.
Davis has earlier stated that Stiles will have a major presence in the season premiere and it looks like he will be abducted by the Ghost Riders right in the first episode.
Davis says that while everybody will forget Stiles, his friends, and his Dad will realize something huge is missing in their life. They will eventually come to a realization that it’s a person.
As for the blooming romance between Stiles and Lydia, Jeff was kind enough to provide a sneak peek at the premiere script which teases Lydia not leaving Stiles when he already knows that he’s being targeted by the Ghost Riders.
Reports say that while everyone in Beacon Hills will forget Stilinski, Holland Roden’s Lydia seems to be the only one able to hold on to her memories of him.
Davis went on to describe the relationship between Stiles and Lydia and said that the two definitely have something special. He teases that the Stydia relationship will, in fact, be a focal point of Season 6.
Fans now speculate that it’s up to Lydia to save Stiles. During the San Diego ComicCon in July, Roden says that her character will be more mature in the upcoming season. She also says that Stydia fans will love Season 6.
Meanwhile, it looks like Tyler Hoechilin will be returning as Derek Hale for the upcoming season. According to International Business Times, since the show will be bowing out next year, old characters will most likely pay a visit to Beacon Hills.
Along with the Ghost Riders, Scott and his pack are also expected to fight the Nazi werewolf. Scott will definitely need all the help he could get.
It was earlier confirmed that Cody Christian’s Theo will be back for the next season and will be on Scott’s side. Although, he will find a hard time regaining the whole pack’s trust.
Derek was last seen back in Season 4 when he departed Beacon Hills with his girlfriend Braeden. Hoechlin left the show to pursue other opportunities.
He recently landed a gig on the “Fifty Shades of Grey” sequel “Fifty Shades Darker” wherein he will play Boyce Fox, an author that signs in on the publishing company where Anastasia Steele works.
The 28-year-old actor disclosed that he also was tied up with The CW’s “Supergirl” where he played Clark Kent and his alter ego Superman in two episodes.
