MTV’s “Teen Wolf” is about to bid farewell to the show’s sixth and final season.
The news came directly from series creator Jeff Davis during the show’s panel at the San Diego ComicCon on Thursday, July 21.
Davis broke the news at the start of the presentation, pointing out that he typically announces at the event if the show was renewed again for another season.
Jeff said that the sixth season will be different, but it doesn’t give them fewer reasons to celebrate especially since the show will end with its 100th episode.
The “Teen Wolf” panel was graced by stars Tyler Posey, Holland Roden, Dylan Sprayberry, Khylin Ramon, and Cody Christian. Cody’s presence confirms rumors that his character, Theo did not die during the Season 5 finale and will definitely be back in Season 6.
Their attendance marked the seventh consecutive trip to the ComicCon for “Teen Wolf.” Cast members Ian Bohen and J.R. Bourne, who plays Peter Hale and Chris Argent, respectively, jolted the cast and fans by thundering onstage dressed as Beacon Hills’ newest villains: The Ghost Riders.
Davis says that Season 6 will consist of 20 episodes and is slated to premiere this November and wrap up in March 2017.
Fans of the show know that it is a big change for the show as it normally premieres in June. It is still unknown if the season will be divided into two parts — 6A and 6B — as what they have been doing since its third season.
Davis thanked the fans who have supported the show since day one and are still with them after five seasons. He tells the crowd that the show has been one very exciting journey and that he is very grateful for all the support and love the fans give to the show.
Cast members were very emotional while breaking the news to fans. Tyler Posey, who plays the alpha wolf Scott McCall told fans that he is grateful for their support over the years.
Davis was quick to point out that Dylan O’Brien, who plays Scott’s best friend Stiles, wrote a note to say how bittersweet the news was and thanked fans who supported the show from the beginning.
Jeff adds that Dylan is back filming for the show and has shot most of his part for the first few episodes of the show. He also teased fans that they should watch out for Stiles and Peter’s scenes.
The showrunner revealed that O’Brien couldn’t attend the panel because he’s still at home recuperating following his injury from an accident in March on the set of his upcoming film “The Maze Runner: The Death Cure.”
Along with the major announcement, the cast also presented the audience the first look for the sixth and final season of the MTV hit series.
The trailer introduces the season’s big villain, the Ghost Riders. It was earlier confirmed by Davis that the Nazi werewolf who escaped during the season 5 finale will serve as the villain this season.
During the panel, it was revealed that the season will revolve around the legend of the Wild Hunt. Deacon explains that the legend of the Wild Hunt tells that they can make people forget who they are, but it’s actually worse as they can totally erase people from reality.
From the looks of it, O’Brien’s Stiles is the next target of the Ghost Riders making everyone forget him and memories of him with the exception of Lydia. Back in Season 3, it was hinted that Stiles and Lydia have a deep connection as they were each other’s tether.
Jeff has stated that the Season 6 premiere will deal with the Lydia-Stiles-Malia love triangle. The season will open with Stiles having to pick between the two and judging by the trailer, it looks like the odds are in favor of Stydia fans.
