In the end though, we’re going to see Minaj nominated in several other categories, such as Best Female Video and Hip-Hop Video for her hit “Anaconda”. She’ll be going up against Beyonce, Sia and several other well-known names, so it will be a harsh battle for her.
And that’s just one of the many reasons why people have been so excited for this round of the VMAs. It’s expected that we’re going to see many interesting developments this year, especially in some categories that were left somewhat underrepresented previously.
There will be various smaller names attending the show as well, unlike previous years when the VMAs were mostly focused on the most prominent names in the industry. Of course, if someone is getting an award here it usually means they have a large enough following, but we’re still going to see some slightly less popular names now, which is good.
The minor conflict between Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj seems to have been resolved now as well, as it all seemed to have started from some misunderstood comments. Swift apologized after the air cleared, and the two of them don’t seem to share any animosity towards each other at this point, so we might even see them acting friendly at the awards.
