Several prominent celebrities are going to be at the MTV VMAs, with Miley Cyrus hosting the event after much anticipation and rumors about whether or not this might happen. Many of her fans were convinced that they would see her holding the host’s microphone though, and it was definitely good news for those who follow the singer closely. Other than her, we’re also going to see Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber showing up.
In fact, we’ll be seeing some interesting things from both of them – on one hand, Bieber will be performing a new single (“What Do You Mean”), while Taylor Swift is going to be nominated in 10 different categories for two of her hits, leading to much anticipation in her community of fans. It’s expected to be a pretty interesting night for everyone involved and we’re probably going to see some surprising moments from various celebrities too.
Other than Miley Cyrus as a host, we’re also going to see various well-known celebrities presenting the event, including Kylie Jenner and even Britney Spears. Ice Cube is scheduled to appear as well, and more interestingly, he’ll be accompanied by his son.
Taylor Swift won’t disappoint her fans when it comes to delivering a special exclusive performance either – we’re going to take a special look at the music video for “Wildest Dreams”, a new hit single coming out by her soon. Of course, her fans seem to be more excited about “Bad Blood” and “Blank Space”, which are the two songs of hers that have led to the large number of nominations that she’ll be going through on that night.
Some of the categories where Taylor Swift is going to make an appearance include Video of the Year, Best Female Video, Song of Summer and several others. Her fans are expecting to see her walk away with at least one major award, though it seems like most people want to see her succeed in most of the categories where she’s been nominated.
However, she’ll be facing some harsh competition from all sides in pretty much every one of those categories, so we can’t say for sure what’s going to happen on the big night. The event will probably also be organized in a way that gives exposure to as many different artists as possible, so Taylor Swift will most likely not end up successful in absolutely every single category where she’s been nominated.
It’s worth noting that Nicki Minaj isn’t going to be showing up in the list for the top award, and she has actually been openly disappointed about missing this opportunity. About a month ago when the nominations were made public, Minaj made some open statements about being displeased with the decision to skip her for the award, but in the end there’s little she can do – and the same goes for her fans too.
She did go in some peculiar directions with her public statements, claiming that there’s a problem in the way that black female entertainments are received and presented in the media.
While some of her fans did agree with her statements, others were quick to point out counter-examples for some of the things she said, so it seems like her community was overall a bit split on the issue. It’s also interesting to note that Minaj has generally been enjoying a lot of appreciation for her music from many levels of the industry, and it came as a bit of a surprise to many of her fans that she wasn’t getting nominated.
