Taylor Swift is one of the hottest singers right now and she has been in the news quite a bit lately in regards to her music. She was unhappy that a music streaming service charged their customers to hear her great songs so she pulled her entire library to make a point. Other than singing at the top of her lungs and watching all of her songs cruise to the top of the charts, Taylor Swift is also trying to help out where she can.
Taylor Swift has been in the music business since 2004 and has been releasing number one hits since then. She has amassed a major following of young teen girls and even older gentleman that loves her lyrics and the beats that come with them. Her profile consists of singer, songwriter, record producer, actress and most recently, philanthropist. She is a major supporter of arts and education and even donated $75,000 to a school in Nashville and helped build an education center with a $4 million donation.
Most recently, Taylor Swift has decided that it was time to give a little back from the earnings that she makes on her number one singles. The song, “Welcome to New York” has been quite popular lately and according to sources, Taylor Swift has decided to take money from the sales of that single and donate $50,000 of it to New York City Public Schools. Granted that is just a sliver of the money she makes on a normal basis, but it is listed as an “initial donation”, meaning there could be more.
At first, the donation was thought to be a one time gift as reported by the public school system and that brought out a little rage in the critics that know she is worth more than $200 million. Later, it was discovered that Taylor Swift is planning to make it an ongoing donation and that was cleared up by the sources. The ongoing donation amount has not been announced, but it is certainly going to make news.
The 25-year old recording artist wants to give back to the schools and arts programs knowing that one day it could help others become something big, like she did. During an interview, it was noted that Taylor Swift would donate all of the earnings from “Welcome to New York” to the New York public school system. That song appears on her “1989” album, which has sold more than 4 million copies at this point.
