There have been reports saying that filming for “The Expendables 4” shall happen this fall in time for the movie’s official premiere to global theaters next year.
The same reports were also saying that shooting for the movie shall be held in China because the producers of the upcoming fourth installment of the action ensemble franchise are from the country.
Fall has already set in but there seems to be no official report yet as regards the production for “The Expendables 4” including from the lead actor himself, Sylvester Stallone.
It could be the strategy of the producers, this time, to keep everything under wraps so as to avoid the occurrence that happened before “The Expendables 3” came out to theaters in 2014. Back then, there was a massive promotion of the movie right from the set and all the way to the film’s pre-release period.
As a result, an online copy of the movie got leaked to the internet even before “The Expendables 3” hit theaters and thus causing negative box-office effect on the movie, and making it the lowest-earning movie of the franchise.
That is amid the fact that “The Expendables 3” had more star power compared to the previous two films.
Scouting for more stars
There are also reports saying that even before filming of “The Expendables 4” has begun, Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger have been going around to scout for more stars as additional cast members for the movie, reports Headlines & Global News.
Among the big names that were reportedly considered by Stallone and Schwarzenegger for “The Expendables 4” were Nicolas Cage, Jackie Chan, Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Jack Nicholson, Clint Eastwood, and Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao.
Eventually, it came out that those who will be joining as new cast members of “The Expendables 4” are John Cusack and Pierce Brosnan.
However, even these remain as speculations pending the confirmation from the producers or from Sylvester Stallone himself.
Incidentally, Stallone seems to be preparing well for his role in “The Expendables 4” as he was recently spotted showing off his bulging biceps while having lunch at Mulberry Pizza in Beverly Hills, reports the Daily Mail of UK.
The “Creed” actor wore a black shirt and jeans and also posed for photos with another man in an arm wrestle. It could also be part of his upcoming TV series featuring the owner of Mulberry Pizza.
Throwback photos
It was 31 years ago when “Rocky IV” was shown and perhaps for some of his senior moments as a 70-year-old, veteran Hollywood action star Sylvester Stallone decided to share some photos on Facebook of the classic movie featuring himself and the very young Dolph Lundgren then.
Stallone played his iconic character of Rocky Balboa in the movie while Lundgren played his nemesis, the Russian boxing behemoth Ivan Drago.
It was Ivan Drago who killed Apollo Creed in the ring that prompted Rocky Balboa to fight back to avenge his friend.
The movie has international intonations as well as it came in the aftermath of the iconic cold war between the United States and Russia back in the 80s.
It was Sylvester Stallone who wrote, directed, and starred in “Rocky IV” and he said that some of the photos he shared on Facebook he has not even seen before.
He said in the caption that of all the movie fights he had, Dolph Lundgren was by far the most powerful. He also captioned one of the photos by saying that it is always a pleasure for him being smashed by Dolph Lundgren.
Stallone took Dolph Lundgren to become part of “The Expendables” franchise when it began in 2010, indicating the respect that the “Rambo” actor has on the Swedish behemoth
On the same day he shared throwback photos of “Rocky IV” on his Facebook account, Stallone also had a night out with his 48-year-old wife, Jennifer Flavin.
The couple had a fancy mid-week date night at Madeo steakhouse in Beverly Hills, California. While at the steak restaurant, Sly and Jennifer also ran into singer Frankie Avalon and Sly and Frankie made sure to pose for a photo up in front of the restaurant’s door.
