It was 31 years ago when “Rocky IV” was shown on theaters and perhaps because of his senior moments as a 70-year-old, veteran Hollywood action star Sylvester Stallone decided to share some photos on Facebook of the classic movie featuring himself and the very young Dolph Lundgren then.
Stallone played his iconic character of Rocky Balboa in the movie while Lundgren played his nemesis, the Russian boxing behemoth Ivan Drago.
It was Ivan Drago who killed Apollo Creed in the ring in “Rocky IV” that prompted Rocky Balboa to fight back to avenge his friend.
The movie has international intonations as well as it came out in the aftermath of the iconic cold war between the United States and Russia back in the 80s.
It was Sylvester Stallone who wrote, directed, and starred in “Rocky IV” and he said that some of the photos he shared on Facebook he has not even seen himself before, reports Entertainment Weekly.
He said in the caption that of all the movie fights he had, Dolph Lundgren was by far the most powerful. He also captioned one of the photos by saying that it is always a pleasure for him being smashed by Dolph Lundgren.
Stallone took on Dolph Lundgren to become part of “The Expendables” franchise when it began in 2010, indicating the respect that the “Rambo” actor has on the Swedish behemoth.
A night out with the wife
On the same day he shared throwback photos of “Rocky IV” on his Facebook account, Stallone also had a night out with his 48-year-old wife, Jennifer Flavin.
The couple had a fancy mid-week date night at Madeo steakhouse in Beverly Hills, California, reports the Daily Mail.
While at the steak restaurant, Sly and Jennifer also ran into singer Frankie Avalon and Sly and Frankie made sure to pose for a photo up in front of the restaurant’s door.
Jennifer looked way much younger than her 48 years as she wore a sheer black blouse with a leather jacket.
Stallone donned an all-black look of straight leg jeans, a slightly shiny patterned shirt, and a leather-patched jacket.
Acting less, producing more
Stallone may be slowing down as an actor given his age but he is not about to stop as a producer. After agreeing to produce the reality TV show “Ultimate Beastmaster” on Netflix a few months ago, he was also rumored to serve as producer or executive producer of the small screen version of his iconic character John Rambo, in a TV series reportedly titled “Rambo: New Blood.”
Latest reports have it that Stallone’s latest project is producing a TV show called “Pizza Guy.” It would be a comedy TV series based on the crazy life of Richie Palmer, who fled from the Bronx 20 years ago to open a Mulberry Street Pizzeria in Beverly Hills.
Richie Palmer was a former struggling actor who was also previously married to actress Raquel Welch. He started his pizza career in New York in the 1980s. He then transferred to LA already equipped with plenty of celebrity connections to open a New York-style pizzeria in 1992.
His pizza eventually evolved to become the Mulberry Street Pizzeria and now has four branches in Southern California.
Palmer’s pizzeria regularly has celebrities for its customers including the likes of Drew Barrymore, Mickey Rourke, Rosie O’Donnell, and Kato Kaelin.
Critics are wishing that the “Pizza Guy” will do better in the ratings compared to “Feed the Beast” on AMC starring David Schwimmer. The latter show is widely criticized for its weak plotline.
Some critics are also saying that it is possible that Sylvester Stallone took all of 30 seconds to decide on producing the “Pizza Guy.”
According to reports, the show shall be featuring high-profile guests all looking to get a slice of the pizza products of Mulberry Street Pizzeria.
Stallone has noticeably been increasing his push into TV in recent years. He also took on his first major TV role back in April as he signed for an adaptation of Mario Puzo’s “Omerta.”
But Stallone is still working on other films as an actor including “The Expendables 4,” “Scarpa,” “Creed 2,” and a cameo appearance in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.”
There are also reports saying that the 70-year-old veteran Hollywood action star is looking to produce more TV series in the future including “The Expendables” franchise.
