WWE star Hulk Hogan is also in talks to go onboard. The 64-year-old wrestling pro has long expressed his desire to join the action-packed film and that he was begging the lead actor to cast him in it. Recently, Hogan revealed that he and Stallone were already in talks about how he will become the evil one.
The Rock himself has also expressed his desire to be part of the film series. In a Reddit thread, the “Fast and Furious” actor was cited as saying that he wants to be part of the film but not to be buddies with the lead characters because he wants to bring them down.
Fans of the franchise will have to wait a few more months before more information on casting, plot, and film’s release date come out.
The upcoming film will be the first movie to not follow the two-year gap between each movie in the franchise. Aside from this, Millennium Films have announced their plans for an all-female version of the film as early as 2012.
Initially titled as “The Expendabelles,” the studio was reportedly negotiating with Meryl Streep, Cameron Diaz, and Milla Jovovich to star in the film. As of February last year, Deadline reported that Robert Luketic was set to direct. However, no details about the future of the film came out since then.
