In the meantime, there has been a small – but vocal – group of fans who seem to believe that the franchise is best left alone, and they don’t want to see it tainted by a sequel that could potentially turn out unsuccessful.
But in the end, it’s all in Stallone’s hands, and if he’s able to get a grip on all aspects of the production, we have no reason to believe that it’s not going to be a massive hit.
After all, the name “Rocky” still echoes through the corridors of cinema history very loudly and the franchise has a huge following of dedicated fans, and even if the new film isn’t a direct sequel to the previous ones, it’s guaranteed to get a lot of attention.
Whether or not things will continue after that, we can’t say for sure, but it will likely depend on the success of “Creed” to a large extent, as well as Stallone’s personal motivation to continue focusing on that specific franchise, instead of moving on to something completely new. Stallone definitely looks like he has a lot of potential left in him to come up with amazing ideas, and we’re excited to see what else he’s planning.
