There were a lot of fans who were disgruntled with the PG-13 rating in Expendable 3. It was done in order to get some of the excited youngsters in the movie theaters. The film wasn’t exactly a huge success.
Some say it was due to the film being leaked online before releasing in theaters. However, producer and star Sylvester Stallone blames this on the absence of an R-rating. Sylvester Stallone was asked whether he regretted the reduction in violence in order to get a more teen-friendly movie rating.
He promptly responded that yes, according to him this was the sole reason for the diminished success of this film. In order to reach a wider audience, it was a horrible miscalculation on everyone’s part. The violence should not be diminished at all since the audience expects it to be that way. According to him, this will never happen again.
The marketing for Expendables 3 talked of it as ‘one final ride’. However, it looks like there is a fourth film on the works. He has also discussed the possibility of killing off some of the members of the large assembly of veteran actors and young badasses. It was a big conflict for Sylvester Stallone.
As it was an R-rated film, it was difficult to believe that none of the actors died. In Expendables 2, we saw the tragic loss of Liam Hemsworth just a little way into the film. Sylvester personally believes that the characters become quite identifiable, and their sad demise places a dark cloud over the audience who exit the theater after watching the movie. It could all change drastically in ‘Expendables 4’.
Frankly, most people are of the opinion that, simply returning to R-rating will not bring back a greater audience to the theaters. Irrespective of what Sylvester Stallone thinks, the novelty of this franchise has worn out.
According to some, if some of the veteran heroes start turning on each other resulting in the development of two different factions, it could lead to something interesting. People will need a lot to get interested again in a movie that features a geriatric crew of veteran actors along with some youngsters, like last time.
According to people, there are many different actors they wish to see in the next Expendables movie. These include actors like Carl Weathers, Nicholas Cage, Jackie Chan, Steven Seagal, Kurt Russell, Sean Bean, Pierce Brosnan, Sigourney Weaver, Clint Eastwood and Sean Connery among others.
Who would you like to see in ‘The Expendables’ franchise? Were you happy with the PG-13 rating in The Expendables 3? Would you be more comfortable with an R-rating? Let us know in the comment section below!

Steven Seagal should be the most violent and last villain….Killing off many of the main characters leading to a final and bloody hand to hand combat fight with Stallone.
don’t know about killing of main characters but he should do some of his samurai sword stuff thats what we haven’t seen yet
Brian Thompson!! Carl weathers!! Please don’t kill off any main characters the franchise is way to good!
Carl Weather definitely yes, but I don’t know the algorithms behind Hollywood (racism and machism) and why those directors try to cut the good stuff (pegi13) I would like to see Steven Seagal too.
The only actress I know off to put some diversity in there is from that gonzo movie Nemesis: Nebula, with Sue Price I would definitely pay double to that movie with them all.
Just kill of the younger characters. They added no extra value to the the third movie anyways.
I would love to see Sigourney Weaver as the villian. She’s got the action hero chops but also has an underlying intensity that could make for a great villain .
I would like to see Michael Jai White and Carl Weathers
