Sylvester Stallone Did Not Say That ‘Rambo 5’ Will be Filmed in Iraq and Syria

Sylvester Stallone did not say that filming of the fifth installment of the “Rambo” movie franchise titled “Rambo: Last Blood” will take place in Iraq and Syria, contrary to reports going around in the internet as of late.

Reports say that the veteran Hollywood action star made the statement during the recently-concluded ComicCon 2015 held at San Diego, California. However, Stallone did not attend the event so it was quite impossible for him to have made the statement.

Rumors have circulated as of late, citing that the actor had allegedly attended ComicCon where he reportedly made statements about the latest sequel to “Rambo” being set in Iraq and Syria. Internet news portals also gave out information about the “Rambo 5” production team’s search for locations in Syria and Iraq. Various publications on July 13 have cited Stallone’s alleged statements about “Rambo” cast members cooperating with locals of the two Islamic states as they search for the best locations for the upcoming film.

However, “Rambo: Last Blood” will not incorporate Islamic country battle plot.  The 68-year-old Stallone’s last official statement about “Rambo 5” was made on his Twitter account a few weeks ago when he tweeted that he shall be doing “Scarpa” after “Rambo: Last Blood.” The tweet announces new developments on the new Rambo sequel as well as his engagement in an upcoming drama about the infamous gangster Greg Scarpa.

The first movie of the franchise is titled “First Blood” shown in 1982. The sequel, which was titled “Rambo” hit theaters three years later. Stallone has been the lead actor and writer of the three sequels. The famous Rambo movie series feature Stallone as a Vietnam veteran soldier who faces injustice and fights crime.

Two other sequels followed suit titled “Rambo III” and “John Rambo.” All the sequels incorporate  a common plot of Sylvester Stallone being a former Green Beret who faces social injustices and discrimination with his battle-type approach to conflict resolution.

“First Blood” was set in the small town of Hope in Washington. The protagonist John Rambo comes across misunderstanding and misjudgment from the local authorities. Rambo soon enters a conflict with the Sheriff, played by Brian Dennehy, who tries to force Rambo out of town. The movie was a significant success, as it earned $125 million with a $6,642,005 opening.

“Rambo: First Blood Part II” was shown in 1985. The screenplay was written by James Cameron and Stallone. The plot revolves around Rambo being sent to Vietnam on a search and rescue operation where he ends up fighting Vietnamese and Soviet forces. The movie raised a total box office sum  of over $300 million.

“Rambo III” followed in 1988, and it is set in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The confrontations involve the Soviet forces and the Mujahedeen. The movie had a box office total of $189,015,611. The movie’s shooting areas were mainly Israel and Thailand.

“John Rambo,” the fourth movie in the series filmed in 2008, is set in Thailand, and is the last sequel of the famous Rambo movie series. Here, the character John Rambo fights a group of military junta soldiers in Burma, while on his rescue mission for Christian aid workers. The movie had a box office total of $113,244,290, with over $18 million raised on opening weekend.

“Rambo: Last Blood” was announced on February 2, 2009, and according to Stallone, it should be quite different. On March 10, 2008, Stallone had also announced that he was halfway through writing “Rambo 5” and that, this time, war imagery would no longer be included in the film.

Stallone will again be the protagonist of the “Rambo: Last Blood,” in addition to being  the writer and director of the upcoming sequel. In his latest comments, Stallone announced that “Rambo 5” will be somewhat based upon “Hunter” where Rambo will be hired to kill a beast which was made by experiments that have gone wrong.
