Sylvester Stallone Casting in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ to Give Yondu’s Ravagers a Bigger Role!

Yondu, played by Michael Rooker, and his Ravagers, were part-villains and part-heroes in “Guardians of the Galaxy” when it was shown in 2014. They were, after all, space mercenaries, and they give their loyalties to whoever gives the better opportunity for them to get something good in return.

But they only play second fiddle to Star-Lord, played by Chris Pratt, and the Guardians, who are the main protagonists of the film.

However, it seems that the Ravagers would have a meatier role in the upcoming “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” as reports have it that Sylvester Stallone will be joining them.

In fact, the veteran action star was recently spotted filming on the Atlanta set of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” where he was seen wearing an armor of some kind, details Comicbook.com.

He was also spotted leaving the same hotel where the rest of the cast is staying, with a script on his hand.

Reports also have it that Stallone has already completed filming some of his scenes in the movie already. However, there is still no other information about the name of his role, the purpose and how his character will play out in the Marvel movie.

The tipster who gave the information revealed that Stallone’s costume looks a lot like Judge Dredd, a role which the actor played in 1995, notes Online Vacations.

But one thing is certain, the presence of Stallone is sure to boost the stock of the Marvel film when it comes out to theaters on May 5, 2017. This early, critics are now wondering whether Marvel would attempt to make the most out of Stallone after they were able to convince him to make his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It would be one of the most interesting things to watch out for both in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” and also after.

According to the same tipster, in addition to Stallone, there was also a scene shot recently that involved Howard the Duck, which only confirmed previous speculations that the character would appear in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.”

Does not feel bad at all

Despite not winning the Best Supporting Actor honors at the recent Academy Awards, many critics still feel that Sylvester Stallone deserves the plum for reprising his role as Rocky Balboa in the spinoff movie “Creed” starring Michael B. Jordan.

And he has the 2016 Golden Globes Best Supporting Actor award to show for it. However, Stallone does not feel bad at all for not winning the same title at the Oscars. He believes that being nominated is already a great recognition.

Stallone’s Oscar nominations came 39 years after he earned a nomination for lead actor and original screenplay for “Rocky,” which ran away as the winner of the Best Picture during the 1976 Oscars.

The only other performer who had a 39-year span between Oscar nominations was Helen Hayes. Hayes won the lead actress Oscars in 1931 for the movie “The Sin of Madelon Claudet” before getting a supporting actress award for the movie “Airport” during the 1970 Academy Awards.

The “Rocky” actor also joined the distinguish company of Bing Crosby, Paul Newman, Peter O’Toole, Al Pacino, and Cate Blanchett as the shortlist of actors who have earned nominations for playing the same role in different films.

Did not see it coming

Stallone was obviously elated and thrilled with his Oscar nomination. He said that he did not see the nomination coming but since it came, he just enjoyed it.

When he won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor on January 10, he thanked his imaginary and best friend Rocky.

While he was thrilled for his Oscar nomination, the 69-year-old actor said he has not bought a tux in 40 years so he does not know what to wear during the awarding rites.

He recalled that he possessed a lot of naivete when he was nominated in 1977, saying that it was such a long shot back then because he was so naïve and new to the business, and so green too.
