Switched at Birth Season 5 Shoots Final Scene on the Same Place where the First Scene of the Pilot Episode Was Shot More than 5 Years Ago, More Information

The American teen drama TV series “Switched at Birth” on Freeform returned from where it first started when it shot the final scene of its Season 5 finale on the same place where the first scene of the pilot episode was shot five and a half years ago.

The modern irony was announced on Twitter by show creator Lizzy Weiss after posting that they have also officially completed filming early this week.

Weiss described the final filming as a tough yet beautiful day for the cast and crew members of “Switched at Birth.” She added that the weather was perfect and the house was stunning against the night sky.

She explained that all of the show’s writers drove in for the final shot and the cast members who were not in the final scene or even in the episode came in to be a part of the moment, details Enstarz.

The show creator added that everyone’s family came by and there were also flowers, bottles of wines, homemade necklaces, and lovely ‘thank you’ cards. Crew members who worked together for thousands of hours hugged and teared up and took selfies, she noted.

She went on to say that they all stood on the magnificent front lawn of the iconic Kennish house clapping and marvelling at the once-in-a-lifetime experience that the show has become for all of them.

Incredible ending

Weiss seems to have moved on from the initial disappointment she got when Freeform announced last month that Season 5 is going to be the last for “Switched at Birth.”

It was also a double-whammy for the TV series because apart from its cancellation after the fifth season, the network also decided to push back its Season 5 premiere supposedly from this month to next year.

She wrote on Twitter that Season 5 of “Switched at Birth” will air next year and the ending will be incredible. She said that fans will see the show’s final 10 stories and how it will send off the main characters.

The showrunner also said that she could not have possibly scripted a perfect ending and it was because of all the people who made it all happen, describing it as a little piece of magic.

College adventures will continue

Weiss also confirmed that Season 5 of “Switched at Birth” will see the show’s main characters Bay, played by Vanessa Marano, and Daphne, played by Katie Leclerc, continuing their adventures in college, notes the Ecumenical News.

The showrunner said that she thought that time jump was unnecessary, which was the strategy employed by its fellow teen series on Freeform “Pretty Little Liars.” Thus, there will still be a lot of experiences that the girls will face as students and as young adults in the fifth and final season of “Switched at Birth.”

Fans of “Switched at Birth” have nearly a year to speculate on what would be the possible plotlines of the show when it airs its fifth and final season next year. Most of the questions center on whether Bay would have a new boyfriend or whether Daphne will continue to have a smooth relationship with boyfriend Mingo, played by Adam Hagenbuch.

The cancellation announcement by Freeform on “Switched at Birth” was a huge surprise for fans since the show was actually renewed for a fifth season as early as October of last year or even before Season 4 ended.

“Switched at Birth” Season 5 episodes has been reduced to 10, down from the usual 20 to 30 episodes per season.

With the network’s decision to cancel the TV show, fans of “Switched at Birth” started a petition on both change.org and ipetitions to convince Freeform to reconsider its decision. The petition in change.org already has 2,600 signatures after two weeks, while the one in ipetition has less than a hundred signatures after a week.

“Switched at Birth” premiered in June 2011 to 3.3 million total viewers and a 1.3 demo rating. The Season 4 finale generated 840,000 viewers and a 0.4 rating.
