We were all left with a bit of a cliffhanger at the end of Season 4, with Bay answering a mysterious phone call that left viewers pondering, WHO IS IT?! All we know is that it is huge news and that the girls, who are presently in another country, must leave at once and come home immediately. No one knows what was said, but it does not appear as if it is a good thing for neither Bay nor Daphne.
Rumors are spreading on what the news could be. Some speculate it has mostly to do with how last season ended with some major issues with a few of our other leading characters on the show. Kathryn and John are leaning in the direction of a divorce. John himself is having a lot of health issues with his heart; it could be a family emergency. Or it maybe it is news about Toby and Lily and a certain newborn they have been struggling with.
If divorce is the major focus of the call you can bet Daphne and Bay will fight to keep their parents together. There is even speculation that the phone call is bearing good news instead. Daphne may actually get the chance to become a doctor. If this is the case, she could take care of John and help him with medications that he could need. The two sisters have been in China for almost 10 months. Perhaps this time has allowed Bay to follow her dream of becoming a tattoo artist and Daphne having the opportunity to work in a small clinic.
The leading ladies may have even picked up on the Mandarin language. No matter what the outcome is the show is heading in all new directions for fans of the popular Freeform Channel’s Television series. Writer Lizzy Weiss has stated that she will turn the audience’s attention to Racism on the College Campus; Giving African American characters a chance to lead their own story and be a major focus in season 5. In a reveal, she explains on how it will start off. A Caucasian student attending a Halloween party dresses up as rapper LiL Wayne.
Not intending for it to be offensive to anyone, he does create an issue among the African American Community. We will get to see, from another’s perspective, how this simple act could makes one feel offended and why it can be hurtful, even if it is not your intention. Interestingly enough, the creator, writer and producer of the show, Lizzy Weiss, is having great difficulty in naming episode five of the 5th season. She has already titled the first four. Those titles are “The Call,” “This Has to Do with Me,” “Surprise” and “Relation of Lines and Colors.”
