Fans of “Supernatural” will probably be delighted to hear that the show isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, as it has been successfully renewed for another season. As some critics have pointed out, the move was a bit untypical for the show’s network, The CW, as they typically like to wait a little longer before revealing whether a show is coming back or not. In this case though, we would be surprised if anyone minds the earlier reveal. Looking at the discussions that are forming online, fans are currently focused on guessing the general plot line for the next season.
It’s also interesting to point out that the show’s latest renewal now makes it the longest-running production on the network. Considering the fact that the seasons we’ve seen so far have been received very well by fans, with pretty much no indication of the show’s quality going down, this is actually a commendable feat. Many TV shows tend to lose their luster a few seasons in, and the usual outcome is that the show either falls into a generic formula that makes it boring, or the producers try to change things too rapidly and end up forgetting everything that once made the production good.
This isn’t the case with “Supernatural”, obviously, as the show has not only managed to remain on the screen for so long, but its popularity hasn’t suffered one bit from this long run. And even now, fans are seeing their favorite characters in situations that inspire a lot of discussion and arguments online, and it doesn’t look like any fans of the show are even getting close to feeling bored with it.
What’s more, the next episode is even going to show some familiar faces returning to the screen, and it looks like some fans are particularly happy about the news. A preview for episode 16 reveals that Bobby Singer will be back on the screen for at least one episode, and he will also be involved in a story that already has fans talking. According to the preview that the producers have released, Bobby will have some past experience with the kind of monster that Sam and Dean have to deal with now, so they will turn to him for help and additional information.
The three of them, together with Rufus – played by Steven Williams – will have to come up with a way to get rid of the monster without it harming anyone else, and despite the fact that the synopsis sounds simple enough in its short form, we’re sure that the episode has a few surprises that will make this story not so straightforward. It wouldn’t be a true episode of “Supernatural” if the producers didn’t introduce some extra challenge for the characters, after all, and it’s also perfectly in their style to keep this as a surprise until the very last moment. With that in mind, some fans of the show sounded a bit nervous in their discussions, possibly due to hearing some other worrying rumors recently.
Specifically, there have been some talks about major changes coming in the show, possibly involving the departure of a character. So far this is just a rumor that hasn’t been linked to any credible sources, but many fans have been analyzing the story from multiple different angles trying to figure out if there could be any truth to it. It’s not out of the question for the producers of “Supernatural” to do something more dramatic like this, and on the other hand they could probably afford a little more freedom right now when they know the next season is already ordered.
