‘Super Smash Bros 4’ Rumored Arrival of Shovel Knight as Game’s Newest Character Shot Down for Good!

The Fighter Ballot of the popular Nintendo fighting game “Super Smash Bros” has ended on October 3. Since then, gamers have been waiting for the next character DLC that would arrive at the game as promised by Nintendo.

The Fighter Ballot asked fans to vote for the character whom they would like to see included in the popular fighting game. Following the official release of “Super Smash Bros 4” on Nintendo Wii U and 3DS in April, Game Director Masahiro Sakurai initiated the Fighter Ballot during the Direct event.

In addition to legacy characters like Mewtwo from “Pokemon” and Lucas from “Mother 3,” “Super Smash Bros 4” gamers could actually wish in theory anyone they want to be part of the game through the Fighter Ballot.

The release of Roy from “Fire Emblem” and Ryu from “Street Fighter” as the third and fourth character DLCs to “Super Smash Bros 4” in June were not ballot-related.

The loudest next DLC character in the rumor mill

At the end of the Fighter Ballot, the surprising yet loudest character to have been making the rounds on the rumor mill is that of Shovel Knight from the same game title, notes the Realty Today.

The speculations appear to have a good leg to stand on since there were reports of Shovel Knight being included in the list of DLC characters possibly coming out on “Super Smash Bros 4.”

In addition, there were leaks of Shovel Knight Amiibo supposedly coming out days before it is to be released. Not only did it come as a surprise, it was actually shocking for Nintendo to have a third party directly release a new Amiibo figurine.

When Nintendo learned of the leaked screenshot of the Amiibo figurine of Shovel Knight in a website, the Japanese gaming company immediately deleted the web page.

Setting the records straight

Since Nintendo has been keeping mum about the whole thing, Yacht Club Games, the creator of “Shovel Knight” decided to come out by issuing a statement to clarify the rumors and set the records straight.

In an official statement made via Twitter, Yacht Club Games said that Shovel Knight being included in the listing of possible new DLC characters to “Super Smash Bros 4” is a misunderstanding. The developer added that Shovel Knight Amiibo is apparently not compatible with the game and creating it would only render it unplayable.

The developer added that while they appreciate the enthusiasm of gamers on the idea of Shovel Knight becoming the next DLC character on “Super Smash Bros 4,” its inclusion in the listing was an error.

“Shovel Knight” has a big following, which is the reason why it has created excitement for the fans when rumors about the character possibly joining “Super Smash Bros 4″ started swirling around.

There are plenty of other rumors regarding the next character DLCs that shall reportedly come to the game. But according to the Parent Herald, the most pronounced as of late are Isaac from the Game Boy Advance console game “Golden Sun,” Wolf O’Donnell from the “Star Fox” game series, and Inkling from “Splatoon.”

Other characters which also made it to the rumor mills are Dixie Kong and King R. Rool from “Donkey Kong Country” as well as Ridley from “Metroid.”

super smash bros

Late in August, there were reports that came out saying that Professor Layton from the “Professor Layton” puzzle games on Nintendo DS and 3DS, will be the next character that shall join the roster of fighters in “Super Smash Bros 4.”

Early this month, reports also came out that based on recent leaks, it would not just be one but three third party DLC characters that will soon come to “Super Smash Bros 4.”

  1. Nooo this s**t is stupid who the hell is Shovel Knight? They should just bring back Wolf and Snake then it’ll all be good.

  2. I do have hopes to see Banjo & Kazooie, hearing the creator or whomever the post from Xbox was saying they’d be happy to see them as well. I kinda thought it’d be a great idea too!

Of course knowing there’s always a tag team dog&duck in the game, who says we can’t have a bear & bird!?

As for the other 2 slots, I guess I stand with the public on the top choices, every character idea is fantastic! I just hope people don’t get upset not seeing the ones they really hope for.
