Venture Beat reports that the game has already dropped out of the top 50 grossing iOS apps in the US. As per mobile app store market intelligence group Sensor Tower, the auto-running platformer has fallen to No. 52 in the list.
The auto-running game hit the top of the charts when it came out last month, reaching 40 million downloads in four days. It launched in 151 countries last month.
The website notes that the game does not have in-app purchase which is probably why its revenues are falling off so quickly. Nintendo has no way to monetize the game after people purchase it.
Game analysts speculate that the game will also reap in downloads just like how it went with iOS, with most Android users also willing to pay for the game’s full version.
They add that most iOS users who did not purchase the full content ended up deleting the game. They also expect the trend to continue for Android users, PocketLint reports.
Before the game comes to Android users in March, Nintendo is set to debut its next offering into the mobile gaming world, “Fire Emblem: Heroes.”
The game comes out on February 2 for Android with an iOS release to follow. Unlike “Super Mario Run,” the upcoming game will be a free download with an in-app purchase.
