It’s amazing how a major discount can bring back a classic game into the Top 40 video games sales chart in the UK. That is just what happened to “Super Mario 3D World” on Wii U when Nintendo Selects included the open world adventure video game among the six that it released for Europe, including the UK.
The game also came with a major discount when it was released by Nintendo Selects last week and it resulted to two big-time effects.
The first one is that it brought a 999% jump on the sales of “Super Mario 3D World” in just one week and also brought the evergreen classic game back to the list of Top 40 video games sales of all time in the UK.
The UK Top 40 does not have many Nintendo games on its roster but the return to the list of “Super Mario 3D World” at No. 32 was actually fuelled by its big jump on its sales, reports Nintendo Life.
Critics believe that the strategy of Nintendo on the “Super Mario 3D World” only shows how a discount can drive sales of high quality Wii U games.
Other Wii U games in the list of UK Top 40 are “Pikmin 3” at 6th, “Mario Party 10” at 7th, “Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker” at 10th, “FAST Racing Neo” at 13th spot, “SteamWorld Collection” at 21st, and “New Super Mario Bros 2” at 30th place.
The results of the latest UK Top 40 video game sales still does not include any eShop sales but many attribute to the major discounts offered by Nintendo Selects on its games that have encouraged many gamers to download rather than get the disc copy of their preferred Nintendo games.
Mario-inspired room in Lisbon
There is a Mario-inspired Airbnb property in Lisbon, Portugal which is now drawing huge attention, at least on the internet.
The entire room has been given a Super Mario makeover as Nintendo’s famous game character adorns every inch of wall space.
The famous Italian plumber can also be seen on the bed sheet and the toilet facility of the Airbnb, which has been turned to look like the game’s well-known and famous green pipes, details the Mirror of UK.
Andre Farinha, a self-confessed “Mario” fanatic and nerd, designed and created the room which is listed for £54 per night on the popular accommodation app.
In promoting the room, Farinha describes it as the geekiest way to enjoy Lisbon. He said that the apartment is in an awesome central location, a five-minute walk from El Corte Ingles Shopping and a 10-minute walk to Marques de Pombal.
The geek also laid some serious gaming action for anyone who shall be staying at the pad because it is also equipped with a Nintendo Wii U console set up with a dedicated stand and a choice of 20 different games to play, with a couple of “Mario” games for sure.
The accommodation also comes with two Nintendo 3DS handheld consoles and a complimentary Netflix service.
It seems that staying in the room has been a great experience for some of those who were able to experience it. One reviewer said that it is the best Airbnb ever, adding that even though Lisbon is such a beautiful city, they did not want to ever leave the accommodation.
He added that the Wii U and the Netflix work really well and the bed is also very comfortable. Everything is also spic and span clean and the Wi-Fi connectivity in the room is very strong.
