Early this month, the rumors about the possible plotline of Season 6 of the American legal drama TV series “Suits” on the USA Network indicate that Rachel, played by Meghan Markle, shall be finding a new love interest in the absence of Mike Ross, played by Patrick J. Adams.
As viewers of “Suits” know, Mike will begin serving his two-year prison sentence for fraud in Season 6 and it would be during his absence that Rachel will find a new love interest in the person of Professor Dunbar, to be played by actor Malcolm Gets. Dunbar is an ethics professor at Columbia Law.
Dunbar will also be crucial in developing Rachel’s legal skills and give her opportunities inside and outside the classroom.
Those opportunities would also mean that Dunbar and Rachel will be spending more time with one another so they shall be able to get to know each other more.
After the recent debacle with Mike, there is really a good chance that she will fall for Dunbar. The most interesting thing about this rumored plotline is how Mike would react to the situation if and when he finds out.
Those rumors came out without complication initially but the new round of speculations has indicated that Rachel might actually be pregnant with Mike’s baby just before he checks in at Danbury Prison, notes the Parent Herald.
Thus, it also follows that Rachel shall also be giving birth to Mike’s baby within eight to nine months while he is in prison. As to how the baby would all fit into her supposed new love interest is what fans should be looking out for once “Suits” Season 6 returns to the USA Network on July 13.
The undeniable chemistry between Mike and Rachel
If Rachel is indeed pregnant just as Mike is about to check in at the prison facility, the situation would add to her stress and make her more vulnerable. A third party can easily enter at that point.
In a recent interview following the Season 5 finale of “Suits,” Meghan Markle said that the final scene between Mike and Rachel was there to remind fans of the undeniable chemistry between the two characters.
She said that amid all the angst and frustration and the drama going on, Mike and Rachel have not made that special connection since the finale of Season 2 so the writers wrote it that way in order to remind the viewers that the attraction between the two is magnetic.
After all the things that they have been through, Mike and Rachel certainly deserved the moment. When asked about the rumors of Rachel being pregnant, Meghan Markle said that everything is completely on the table in Season 6 of “Suits,” details the Christian Daily.
However, since this particular theory has not been confirmed by showrunner Aaron Korsh or the show producers, it remains as speculation at this time and should be taken with a grain of salt.
Last season for the TV series?
There are also rumors going around that Season 6 will be the last for “Suits.” But during a Q&A with the fans of the TV series, Aaron Korsh was quoted as saying that he is highly doubtful that the sixth season would be the last for “Suits.”
He explained that there is no official statement from the USA Network or the producers of the show but then, it is too early to ask the network for its decision for the show’s renewal for Season 7.
It seems that showrunner Aaron Korsh is the one getting in the way of the relationship between Mike and Rachel, according to reports.
It could be recalled that during the Season 5 finale, Mike called off his and Rachel’s wedding plans as he was to serve his two-year prison term.
He also said that both of them will try to revisit the idea of marriage after two years so Rachel having a new love interest would surely negate that plan.
Reports have it that Korsh does not want Mike and Rachel to get married which is the reason why the rumored new love interest for Rachel in the upcoming Season 6.
