After five seasons of various plot twists and unexpected events in the show’s plot, “Suits” ended its last season with a particularly exciting cliffhanger that left all of its fans actively discussing their views of the future. Many are convinced that Mike Ross will manage to escape his problems relatively easily and that the character won’t actually face too many difficulties as a result of his actions, but others seem to believe that the producers are going to put him through a rollercoaster of emotions in order to truly get a response out of their viewers.
When we saw Mike last, he had decided to turn himself in and admitted to fraud on the condition that he was the only one affected, and that others around him didn’t suffer a similar fate. In the end, he got sentenced to two years in prison, something which was made more dramatic by the revelation that his admission was completely unnecessary. Harvey Specter discovered that Mike would have gotten a “not guilty” verdict anyway, which put the two of them in a very difficult spot.
According to recent talks about the show’s season 6, it will pick up exactly where the last season left off, and the show won’t even miss a beat. In fact, the story will resume on the same night of the dramatic events from season 5’s finale, so we might see the events from a different angle this time.
It would actually be entirely in the style of the showrunners to have intentionally misrepresented things in one way or another back in season 5, in order to make things more dramatic for the next one, and it’s actually one of the more sensible conclusions to this whole mess. We wouldn’t be surprised if season 6 started with a twist right off the bat, completely changing the attitude of viewers before they’re presented the rest of the events.
But those expecting Mike to get out of prison soon will probably be left a bit disappointed, as season 6 of the show will actually show him dealing with his life as a prisoner to a large extent, according to reports. We will also see how these events affect his relationships with other characters on the show, and it’s been implied that not everyone will remain so positive towards Mike after all this.
Of course, we expect that the most important people in Mike’s life will still be there for him, but it also wouldn’t be surprising for some of those relationships to start falling apart, possibly on grounds of work-related conflicts as a result of Mike’s new situation. At the very least, we expect that Harvey will always be there for Mike however, and he will likely be one of the main forces behind his release whenever that happens. After all, nobody expects that Mike will spend the entire season 6 in prison, and he will most likely get released one way or another before the season is over.
Mike himself will likely go through some positive changes in his personality as a result of everything that happens, as he will now be a lot more relieved and free to go about his life exactly as he sees fit, no longer dragged down by the huge secret that he’s hiding from everyone. Of course, he now has to adjust to living as a prisoner and that will surely make things difficult by itself, but Mike is a character who can definitely deal with major issues like these as they arise.
