Season 5 of the American legal drama TV series “Suits” has only six episodes remaining after airing its first 10 up to August 26. It will be back on the USA Network after a hiatus of exactly five months as episode 11, titled ‘Blowback,’ is set to air on January 27, 2016.
High on the plotline of the six remaining episodes of “Suits” Season 5 is the arrest of Mike Ross, played by Patrick J. Adams. Fans really wanted to know who ratted in on the bogus lawyer and what the consequences of his fraudulent actions as a law practitioner of Pearson Spectre Litt would be.
Aaron Korsh, showrunner of “Suits,” has previously stated that the last six episodes of Season 5 of the show will be a course-changer.
Korsh revealed that he and the production team thought about a time jump for the second half of the season, but they eventually discarded the idea. Thus, episode 11 will pick up immediately after episode 10 left off when Mike Ross was discovered to be a fraud.
While viewers already know that Mike is not really a lawyer way back in Season 1, only a few know his secret so when his cover was blown during episode 10 of Season 5, the biggest question was who turned him in.
The showrunner revealed that episode 11 of “Suits” is aptly titled ‘Blowback’ and he says that it is a good thematic title for the last six episodes of Season 5, saying that those are course-changers for the TV series.
Coming to Mike’s rescue
More than the identity of the person who turned him in to the authorities, it is important that Mike Ross gets all the legal help he need in his current predicament.
It is expected that Harvey Spectre, played by Gabriel Macht, will also do his best to help out his embattled friend, amid his resignation from the law firm himself.
Many fans felt that the arrest of Mike was heart-wrenching because it came at a time when he has already made up his mind and decided to quit the firm to be a free man and just be the loving partner to his fiancee Rachel, played by Meghan Markle.
Harvey is the mentor of Mike in the law firm and he will not just allow his protégé to simply go down without a good fight. Although he has quit the law firm, it does not mean that he has no hold over what happens there and he definitely owes Mike some payback too after what the latter had done for him in the past, details the International Business Times of India.
It is worth noting that Harvey is also trying to cope up with his relationship with Donna, played by Sarah Rafferty, who left his service after confessing her feelings for him so he is also dealing with a personal issue.
A breakup in the offing?
There have also been speculations that it is possible also that Mike and Rachel would break up as a result of the fraudulent lawyer’s arrest.
In fact, it was actually Aaron Korsh who confirmed in a recent interview that the arrest of Mike will have a big impact on his relationship with Rachel.
While rumors are saying that the couple would split, some fans believe that Rachel would stick to Mike and prove her love, notes the Realty Today.
As if to tease fans on who was responsible for Mike’s arrest, the USA Network recently released a short clip for Season 5B of “Suits” and it showed Jessica who could be the possible person who ratted on Mike.
However, all these speculations about the very interesting plot of Season 5B of “Suits” will be known once the popular TV series returns to the USA Network on January 27, 2016.
Korsh said that Mike is on the hot seat and everybody else is in the back six. He revealed that they have been planning the plot about Mike being on the wrong end of the law for several seasons already and it was only during the episode 10 of Season 5 that they have decided to drop it to the viewers.
