Capcom have been experimenting with the “Street Fighter” brand a little bit with this installment, and it’s clear that the studio wants to do something more special with the game. They have invested a lot in the current fifth game, and their plan is to keep it relevant for a long time – but they will need to very carefully listen to fan feedback to achieve that.
As some critics have pointed out, when a game is designed with such a long intended lifespan, starting off on a bad foot isn’t necessarily that bad in the long run.
Those initial issues will be forgotten sooner or later if Capcom makes sure to fix them, and years from now players will only judge the game for what it’s been transformed into, not where it started from.
So, with that in mind, we expect that Capcom are going to put a lot of effort into implementing a good single player experience, resolving the issue with “rage quitters”, and experimenting with different gameplay mechanics that get the most out of the game’s potential. We can easily see “Street Fighter V” being a hot topic several years later, and those who’ve been with it from the very beginning are likely going to go through an amazing journey until they get there. After all, it’s Capcom – the studio has a lot of experience with reading its audience.
