Street Fighter 5 is about to be released into the gaming world and the odds are very good that it will take over the world in the first weekend of sales. Street Fighter has been one of the most popular titles that is similar to Mortal Kombat. The Street Fighter series has been around for a few years now and has been produced by Capcom. It brings street fighting to your television or PC and is built using the Unreal Engine 4.
The new game will feature cross-platform gaming for the first time on the Playstation 4 and Windows powered PC’s around the world. The game was unofficially announced back in December of last year via a YouTube video, but it was only online for a very short time. Just the next day, it was officially announced at the Playstation Experience in Las Vegas, Nevada and that is pretty much when the buzz really started to pick up for the game.
In recent news, gamers all over the world are about to get teased by a gaming peripheral company as it plans to release Street Fighter 5 controller pads and fight sticks ahead of the game launch. Mad Catz has obtained the license to make a new range of Street Fighter 5 controllers and plans to have them on the market before the game is even for sale. The license agreement is reportedly going to be good for the next three years.
As of right now, there are no pictures or videos showcasing the new controllers which are called FightSticks, Tournament Edition FightSticks and FightPad controllers for the game. The controllers will be for the Playstation 4 or Windows PC only as Sony has secured the exclusive rights for the game on release day. Mad Catz said that it has been putting “the most time into as of late” is the new controllers, according to a blog post on its website. The partnership with Capcom and Mad Catz was started back in 2008.
That partnership also brought new FightSticks to the market when the Street Fighter 4 game was released and they were selling for up to $200 at the time. Mad Catz said “Street Fighter is the most renowned fighting game franchise in gaming and we’re excited to be a part of Street Fighter V”. The fifth installment to the fighting game series is expected to be released this year, but that has not been confirmed by Capcom or anyone else at this point.
