Eleven might return on the sophomore season of “Stranger Things” that is if Millie Bobby Brown’s latest Instagram post is to be a good basis for it.
Millie shared her latest magazine cover and tagged the series’ Instagram page, which means that she might be alive after the Season 1 finale.
The 12-year-old graced the cover of Interview magazine where her conversation with “Dance Moms” alum Maddie Ziegler was detailed. The 12-year-old actress says that she’s very excited to get back to work.
While Brown did not go into specific details, fans have assumed that she meant working on the upcoming season of the Netflix hit.
Fans last saw Eleven sacrificing herself to save all her friends and the town from a beast hunting humans outside of the Upside Down.
However, the last few minutes of the pilot season showed police chief Jim Hopper deliver Eleven’s favorite food, Eggo waffles, to a spot in the woods, hinting that she’s out there somewhere.
Reports suggest that there have been some issues with Brown’s contract that’s why her return has not yet been confirmed, but negotiations are well underway for her to make a comeback in the next season.
The show’s creators have been quiet on the upcoming season especially on Eleven’s fate, making it the show’s biggest mystery so far. However, the Duffer brothers announced the new faces that fans will be seeing in the latest installment.
Mirror UK reports that Dacre Montgomery and Sadie Sink have signed on board the cast for the newest season.
Montgomery will be playing Max, Billy’s stepbrother. The character is described as the girl-stealing bad boy, and it looks like he will be stirring troubles for Nancy and Steve.
Sadie will portray Max, a girl with an odd behavior and who can blend well with the boys. Sadie also has a dark past which pushes her to be suspicious of everything and every person she comes across with.
EW notes that there will be four new characters next season, so fans can expect two more new cast members to be announced soon.
Speaking to OK!, the Duffer brothers Matt and Ross said that Season 2 of “Stranger Things” will be set in the same period as the first season. To be exact, the show will be set in 1984, one year on for the week-long events in the first season.
The showrunners confirmed that almost everyone from the cast will be returning, with the exception of Brown, who is yet to confirm her character’s return.
The two said that preparations for the new season are well underway, but it’s still too early to be giving out details to fans and that they are still in the premature stages of writing the episodes.
“Stranger Things” Season 2 was renewed in August. The latest season will include nine episodes compared to the first season’s eight-episode order.
The Duffer brothers say that Netflix has not yet given an official release date, but they expect it to air in July 2017 just like the first season did. Filming has also not yet started for the new season.
The brothers add that just like the first season, they will still incorporate some influences from Stephen King, John Carpenter, Steven Spielberg, Guillermo del Toro, Japanese anime such as Akira and Elfen Lies, as well as video games such as “Silent Hill” and “The Last of Us.”
While Netflix has not yet released any trailer for the newest installment, the streaming giant has released the episode titles for the new season.
The showrunners add that the season will see the ripple effects of what happened to characters Will Byers, Dustin Henderson, Mike Wheeler, and Lucas Sinclair.
