Disney are still keeping quiet about “Frozen 2”, despite the pleas of so many of their fans to release any information about the film at all, even if it’s just to say that it’s really happening. At the same time, the studio has been preparing a special treat for their fans, in the form of a short film related to the first “Frozen”, titled “Frozen Fever”, which will show some additional moments with our favorite characters.
Elsa and the others will go on a seven-minute adventure that should satisfy fans at least for the time being, giving them a little extra material to enjoy while they’re waiting for the announcement of “Frozen 2”. It’s worth noting that Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, who originally performed “Let It Go” for the first “Frozen”, will be back in this short film as well with a brand new music track.
Expectations about the new film are quite high, despite the fact that it will be just a short seven-minute special. It’s quite apparent that animation fans just want to see more of “Frozen”, and they don’t care if it’s a short clip or a full-length feature film. Excitement is apparently quite high in Disney’s own studios too, as Chris Buck said that they expect kids to “go nuts”.
We already got to see some preview pictures from the new short film, which showed Anna playing with her older sister, who is now much more down to earth and relaxed, as she has thrown a birthday party for the princess. However, things don’t go as planned for her, as she has to come down with a bad cold.
Disney are partly using the film to promote their upcoming “Cinderella” which will come out in March, even though there is no direct link between the two. It’s still a great opportunity to give animation fans a hint that the studio also has other great productions, and there does seem to be a considerable overlap between fans of their different works, so this could be a great move.
Meanwhile, we still have no idea what’s going on with “Frozen 2”. Disney have been completely quiet on the issue, although we’ve heard several rumors about the new film already. So far, we don’t have any official confirmation that it’s actually happening, and there have also been some small rumors that Disney have encountered problems in the production and are going to delay the announcement (and subsequently the release) of “Frozen 2” for some time. Fans have been in universal agreement that it’s definitely better to wait a little longer and get a finely polished movie than seeing it rushed, however.
