Stephen Curry’s Meteoric Rise to NBA Superstardom Continues; Beats LeBron James for the Most Number of All-Star Votes!

As the league-leading Golden State Warriors continue with their winning ways in the NBA, the meteoric rise of point guard Stephen Curry to superstardom appears unstoppable, punctuated by a vote of approval from the fans themselves.

For the first time in his young and promising professional basketball career, Stephen Curry has become the No. 1 getter of All-Star votes from NBA fans worldwide, besting reigning NBA Most Valuable Player LeBron James in the process, reports the Urban Mecca.

Having gotten the most number of All-Star votes also put Curry in the starting five unit of the Western Conference come the 64th NBA All-Star game scheduled on February 15, 2015 at the Madison Square Garden in New York City, the home floor of the New York Knicks.

Curry piled up a total of 1,513,324 votes to beat the King who garnered 1,470,483 votes. At a distant third is New Orleans Pelicans’ Anthony Davis who got 1,369,911 votes. The Lakers’ Kobe Bryant is at fourth with 1,152,402 votes. Rounding out the top five is James Harden of the Houston Rockets with 1,069,368 votes.

Starting five units

Following the results of the All-Star votes, the starting fives for the Eastern and Western conference All-Star teams have been named.

For the East, LeBron James will be joined by the Knicks’ Carmelo Anthony, Kyle Lowry of the Toronto Raptors, John Wall of the Washington Wizards, and Paul Gasol of the Chicago Bulls. With his team’s conference leading Hawks in the standings, Atlanta head coach Mike Buldenholzer will be calling the shot from the bench.

For the East, Stephen Curry, Kobe Bryant, and Anthony Davis will be joined by Marc Gasol of the Memphis Grizzlies and Blake Griffin of the LA Clippers. Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr will be the tactician for the West and nobody is ever wondering why.

Curry-ing the load

The 26-year-old Stephen Curry, who this month became the fastest NBA player to make 1,000 three pointers, is the son of former NBA player Dell Curry.

He holds the record for the most number of three pointers made in an NBA season with 272, which he did during the 2012-13 season. The following season, Curry and teammate Klay Thompson set an NBA record for combined three-pointers made in a season with 484. The duo was since given the nickname in the NBA as the “Splash Brothers.”

Curry was picked seventh overall in the 2009 NBA draft by the Golden State Warriors and eventually signed by the team starting with the 2009-10 season for a four-year contract. During his rookie season, he also became a contender for the NBA Rookie of the Year honors but ended up losing to Tyreke Evans of the Sacramento Kings.

Things have been looking very good for Stephen Curry since and with a league-leading NBA win-loss record past the halfway mark of the NBA regular season, the Golden State Warriors and Stephen Curry are expected to go deep into the playoffs this time around.
