Step-by-Step Guide for Installing Android v4.4.4 KitKat on your Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100!

Samsung launched the Galaxy S2 back in February 2011. The smartphone launched with Android v4.0 ICS, which was further upgraded to support Android v4.2 Jellybean. However, with Google launching Android v4.4.4 KitKat and more recently the v5.0 Lollipop, Galaxy S2 users were considering upgrading their smartphone.

We however have good news for users who are in no mood to upgrade their handset at the moment. Even though Android KitKat is unavailable via OTA, custom ROM makers have stepped up their game. The Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100 now supports Android v4.4.4 KitKat via the latest upgrade.

Galaxy S2 users can also upgrade their device via a CyanogenMod upgrade, which was launched recently. However, before your install the custom ROM, make sure to backup the factory settings. Remember that Samsung does not take responsibility of the smartphone once you install the Custom ROM. However, if you are still using the Galaxy S2, chances are that the device is out of warranty. Hence, feel free to experiment!

Users can opt for ClockWorkMod recovery tool, which is one of the most sought after and effective. Once the process is underway, do not turn off the device. Make sure that the battery has above 80% charge left before you commence the upgrade. Users need to ensure that the associated software is installed on the PC, and the smartphone is connected to a PC via USB at all times.

Users are advised to confirm the model number of their device as the Custom Rom update is available only on the I9100. Installing the ROM on other devices might damage the smartphone. Here is a step by step guide to successfully installing the Custom ROM on the Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100.

#1: Download Custom ROM update for the Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100.

#2: Connect the smartphone to the PC via USB.

#3: Copy the downloaded file to your device’s SD Card. Make sure that the file is stored in the SD Card root and not in a folder.

#4: Unplug the device from the USB and switch it off.

  1. I bought a Cube U25GT-C4W // MTK8127 // 4.4.2 // N907, but it’s all corrupted!
The “Package Installer” totally hijacked my Tab, forcing me to accept unwanted Apps and automatically restarts every 3 Min or so. I cannot use the Tab it at all, because this corruption program is constantly bombarding the Tab.
What have I to do to stop this nonsense? I’m an elderly person (74) and try to keep up with technology. Please send me the latest Firmware with instructions. I can follow instructions in English. For security reasons I do not wish to root it. Thank you in advance for the help.
    Warm Regards, Joh
