From what we’ve seen of “SOMA” already, the game does look like it was prepared with a lot of attention to finer details and lots of special additions by the developers, plus it’s running on an even more improved version of their engine.
But some critics seem to be of the opinion that the game is pushing some trends too far and it might end up backfiring once gamers see beneath its surface. We will have to see if that’s really true or not, but Frictional themselves seem quite confident in the success of this title and their ability to push it to its limits.
Let’s hope that they have kept in mind the various pieces of feedback that they got from their community around the release of “A Machine for Pigs”, as people had plenty of comments about the game’s overall quality back then.
The general consensus was that it was good, but not quite what people expected to see from a new installment in this iconic franchise, so “SOMA” has a lot to make up for. We know that Frictional understand this genre better than most other developers out there though, so hopefully they’ve managed to figure out what was wrong with their original development model and have alleviated those issues for their upcoming new release, which is happening quite soon.
