Steam Keeps Offering Free Games and Significant Discounts, Frictional Games Release Special Offers to Promote Upcoming SOMA!

Steam is the most popular PC games marketplace for a good reason, as Valve have not only been keeping it up to date with various interesting new releases and great discounts, they occasionally run offers that are completely out of character for a major game corporation like themselves. Free games are nothing new under the sun when it comes to Valve and Steam, and the latest offer that they released in tandem with Frictional Games was just another example of that.

For 24 hours, gamers got the opportunity to get “Amnesia” for free, along with various great discounts on other titles by the studio. This is all a promotion for the upcoming “SOMA”, the latest project by Frictional Games and one of the most anticipated horror games arriving to the market in the near future. The title is expected to make quite the splash when it’s released, and gamers are already talking about it left and right, discussing the various great features it’s going to bring to the table.

Frictional have currently established a name for themselves as the top producer of horror games, and for a good reason – “Amnesia” was nothing short of a masterpiece, and the game ended up receiving a lot of attention and praise from all sides of the gaming community for the quality of its gameplay and storytelling.

After that, the studio made a slightly less successful release in “A Machine for Pigs” – even though the game was still recognized for its high quality horror and overall presentation, some fans claimed that it was missing something important that “Amnesia” had, although it was still a good game as a whole.

And now they’re coming up with another major release, “SOMA” – a game that is all about the human psyche and what’s going on in our minds, and it’s supposedly going to tell a very unique story that will really shake people up and make them reevaluate certain things about their lives.

Or at least that’s what the previews are claiming, but of course it’s easy to get lost in the hype when one follows the information released by the developers themselves. It’s pretty clear that “SOMA” is going to make a big splash on the scene, but whether or not it will actually be the most important horror release in the near future as it’s made out to be, remains to be seen.

Until then, people can explore the full list of games that led up to “SOMA” at a significantly reduced price. The original “Penumbra” franchise is offered for practically next to nothing, and combined with the free offer for the first “Amnesia”, those who haven’t yet touched the amazing experience that are these games should definitely prepare themselves for something special and unique. There’s a reason why people were so hyped about “Amnesia” when it came out, and the game still holds up to this day quite nicely.

For now though, many people are discussing “SOMA” and questioning if the new game is going to live up to the hype that’s been built up around it already. It’s clear that we’re going to see something quite special from this new title, but will it really give gamers what they’ve wanted after the somewhat underwhelming release of “A Machine for Pigs”? Hopefully it will, because this genre has been in need of something new and spectacular for quite some time now.
