Among the many iconic characters that came out from “Star Wars”, Han Solo is without doubt one of the most easily recognizable and prominently featured in the media, and Harrison Ford’s portrayal of the character is still praised to this day. So it was no surprise to many of the franchise’s fans to find out that the actor will be coming back for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, where he’s going to reprise his role.
The new film has been somewhat controversial among the community of “Star Wars” fans, but most agree that it has the potential to undo the “damage” done by the second trilogy, which wasn’t received that warmly by most. It’s true that the original three films still remain the best installment in the “Star Wars” franchise for many, but now we may see a true revival of the name once “The Force Awakens” comes out this December.
Some of the members of the production team have been joking that Harrison Ford could be an “actual superhero”, as he has injured himself twice so far during the shooting procedures, and in one of those cases he actually crashed in a training plane from World War 2, although he’s apparently fine now.
Still, reports from the set claim that Harrison Ford has apparently been very happy to be back in this particular role, and the actor seems to be very fond of portraying Han Solo, giving the part his best and being full of energy all the time. This has made some fans very excited to see how he’s going to perform once the film comes out, and it seems to be one of the main motivating factor for some of the franchise’s fans to give the new installment a chance.
The franchise is going to get very active soon, as “The Force Awakens” will be followed by “Rogue One” next year, and yet another film is planned for 2017. Fans have been hopeful that the new trilogy will manage to live up to the name properly this time, and give them the true continuation of the plot that they have been hoping for.
On the other hand, the tight production schedule has been worrying for some fans. The fact that the three films are supposed to come out with a one year delay between them has led some to believe that they might suffer in their production quality, although there have been reports that the team has figured it out and they know how to handle all three films properly, without compromising anything about their quality.
But in any case, there is a very noticeable divide in the community of “Star Wars” fans, and not everyone is particularly fond of the idea of continuing the franchise. According to some, it’s best left alone at this point, as they would like to remember it for what it was, even if the second trilogy wasn’t that successful.
The part of the community that wants to see the sequel happen is definitely larger though, and there have been various active discussions online speculating about what the new film(s) might introduce to the franchise, and what familiar faces we’re going to see returning. Other than Han Solo, several other characters are known to be making a comeback to the screen, and it’s shaping up to be a somewhat nostalgic installment for some of the older fans who’ve grown up with the franchise in their earlier years.
