“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is still to be shown to worldwide theaters on December 18 but it has created more than enough excitement that it is already being predicted to become the biggest blockbuster hit of 2015, no pun intended to “Jurassic World.”
Disney has been all-out in its promotions of the movie. After showing the movie’s first trailer during the “Star Wars Celebration” held in April at Anaheim, California, Disney had its director and cast members appear at the ComicCon 2015 held in San Diego, California last month and also showed the film’s latest trailer.
On August 16, the third day of the three-day D23 Expo held again at Anaheim, California, Disney had the director and cast members of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” participate in the event.
But instead of merely promoting the movie for its release in December, the team from “Star Wars 7” practically stole the show when they made several live-action presentations, a lot of displays, and key announcements from the producers, director, and key cast members.
The biggest news
But the biggest news coming from the “Star Wars” team is that Episode IX of the franchise is confirmed, and it is to be directed by Colin Trevorrow, the same man who helmed “Jurassic World,” which has shot to blockbuster success quite recently to officially become the third in the list of highest grossing movies of all time, notes Collider.
The contingent also revealed the new poster from iconic “Star Wars” artist Drew Struzan. They also showed the first image from “Star Wars: Rogue One,” the episode 8 film, and they also brought out Harrison Ford.
“Star Wars 8” is to be directed by Rian Craig Johnson, who won the Special Jury Prize for Originality of Vision at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival with his debut feature film.
Harrison Ford, who shall be reprising his role as Han Solo, in the seventh installment of the franchise, came with Director J. J. Abrams, and several cast members including John Boyega, Lupita Nyong’o, Daisy Ridley, and Oscar Isaac, notes BBC.
Plenty of things to see
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” also gave fans plenty of things to see at the convention floor including the intricate new costumes of Finn, Rey, and Captain Phasma, played by Gwendoline Christie in the movie, as those were all on display.
There is also the new favorite droid BB-8 and several of The First Order’s Storm Troopers. Drawing special attention is the visually stunning armor of Captain Phasma especially up close.
Harrison Ford is one of the original cast members, but his character is no superhero or a Jedi knight. Han Solo does not even have the lightsaber that Luke Skywalker, played by Mark Hammill, wields.
But according to Director J.J. Abrams of the upcoming “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” he considers Harrison Ford a real-life superhero.
Abrams’ assessment comes with a valid case in point. He recalled that during the filming of the seventh installment of the very popular and successful movie franchise, he, unfortunately, broke his back while attempting to help Harrison Ford in a scene.
It was also the same scene where the veteran actor injured his ankle when the hydraulic door of the Millennium Falcon accidentally closed on his leg. In an attempt to help the foot of Harrison Ford by lifting the door, J.J. Abrams also broke his back in the process. But he just hid the injury by wearing a back brace under his clothes.
However, to Abrams surprise, he saw that Harrison Ford was able to recover from his injury faster than his, prompting him to quip that the guy is a real-life superhero for his speedy recovery.
