There’s a lot of buzz around the “Star Wars” franchise at the moment, especially due to the upcoming release of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”. It seems that some fans are already looking into the future though, as we’ve seen some interesting discussions about one of the next installments into the main series, “Star Wars: Episode 9”.
We still have no official information about the film, and that will probably be the case for quite some time. Disney seem to have a strong grip on their marketing for the series, and they are carefully releasing information about new installments piece by piece. We certainly don’t expect the studio to reveal anything substantial about “Episode 9” for at least a few more months, but there are some rumors on the horizon.
According to speculation, the production could be ready to enter its filming phase soon, and there is apparently a lot of commotion behind the scenes because of this. With about a year left to go before it’s supposed to come out, it makes sense that the producers would want to get the ball rolling on the actual filming at this point.
This also means that they must have made some decisions about the structure of the film as well though, so there could definitely be some credibility to the rumors we’re hearing recently. The film could see some changes in the creative direction, with the introduction of new film formats hinted among other things.
It’s also possible that the actual filming won’t commence for at least another few months, as other rumors indicate that it could be scheduled for April right now. This could also make sense, all things considered, and it’s certainly possible that a studio like Disney could wrap everything up in a few months and push the film to post-production in a reasonable timeframe.
We’ve heard some reports about the story of the new installment too, indicating that we’re going to see some details about the story around Rey and her family. Fans have been asking for that for quite a while now ever since the last installment in the franchise came out, so it’s good to see that the studio has been paying attention to the wishes of their community.
And of course, one of the biggest questions on many people’s minds at the moment concerns the presence of Luke Skywalker in the story. Reports confirm that he will be back in “Episode 9” as well, so it looks like the writers have prepared quite the special story around his character this time. It will certainly be interesting to see how he has evolved since the previous installments, as it’s been quite a while since we last saw his character on the screen.
Other than that, it looks like some fans are interested in the idea of exploring more alien races and new species in “Episode 9”. The studio is already looking to do that in “Rogue One”, according to previews for the film, so they could definitely continue that trend even further.
The universe of “Star Wars” has a lot of potential for new elements to be introduced, and the producers have been making clever use of that so far. The beauty of it all is that they can easily keep adding even more without having to go into deep explanations, as it’s quite easy to tie things together in the world of that franchise.
