The release of “The Force Awakens” saw a lot of success, both commercial as well as critical, and Disney are likely very motivated to make the next installment an even better one and explore more interesting aspects of the “Star Wars” universe.
Some were skeptical about how the studio might change the course of the franchise after it was announced that they were taking over, but once fans saw how they handled the production of “The Force Awakens”, most seemed to calm down and enjoyed the new release.
Of course, there were some who were still skeptical of the future of the franchise, claiming that they were unsatisfied with the last film and that it changed too much for the good of the series. But this can be expected, as these kinds of opinions can be found in the fans of pretty much any franchise that undergoes serious changes.
Disney are at least open to criticism and seem to be following the responses to their work relatively closely, so we expect that they will be able to iron out any imperfections that the last film had by the time the next one is ready to roll out. That will likely take some time too, so fans should arm themselves with a lot of patience, and of course be careful with what they trust on the Internet, as there will most certainly be lots of rumors.
