It should come as no surprise to anyone that “Star Wars 8” is currently one of the most anticipated and speculated releases in the film industry, and there is a lot of buzz about the film all over the Internet. While there is a lack of any substantial information on the official front, this hasn’t stopped fans from trying to guess what the producers might be planning for the new release, and how the plot could evolve for it.
One of the hottest points for most fans of the franchise appears to be the personality of Darth Vader. It looks like some fans want to see even more mystery and plot twists around the character, and there are currently suggestions that we might see him in a brand new form in “Episode 8”.
In fact, some fans apparently suspect that Rey from “Episode 7” could turn out to be a “reincarnation” of Vader. The theory obviously sounds quite far-fetched and fans should take it with a huge grain of salt, but some have pointed out that it actually makes a lot of sense from multiple perspectives, and it would indeed be interesting to see Disney leaning in that direction.
Of course, that would also create a whole bunch of problems for the studio to resolve in terms of loose ends and continuity, but the “Star Wars” universe is large enough that they could easily do that. Plus, it would add a unique twist to the character that will make him much more likeable in the eyes of newer fans.
And that’s an important detail, even though some don’t seem to realize it at the moment. The main problem is that the franchise has been running for quite a long time, and it’s being introduced to some viewers for the first time today. Those people will not have gone through the extensive character building that Vader saw, and they wouldn’t have the same feelings towards him as a “regular” fan of the franchise.
Which makes it important for the writers to balance his positive sides with the negative ones, and revealing him as a character fans are already attached to could be a great way to go about that. Of course, there are also other tricks that can be used to make Vader a more likeable personality, but we’ll have to wait and see to get the full picture.
It’s interesting to note that Rey seems to be getting some preferential treatment by the writers, at least as far as her progress in her powers is concerned. She is learning quite a lot faster than anyone else we’ve seen in the films so far, and this could be a sign that she’ll have a very special place in the plot thanks to her powers. Of course, this could also imply that she’ll be on the good side, and it’s no guarantee that she will end up as Vader once all is said and done.
As 2017 advances, we expect to get some more specific details about Disney’s plans for “Star Wars: Episode 8”, possibly even a teaser in the next few months. The studio tends to have a very careful approach in their marketing and they like to control the release of information very precisely, so fans shouldn’t expect to get any important details through leaks. On the other hand, they also shouldn’t expect anything to be revealed too soon, as Disney tend to take their time with their marketing.
