The release date of the much awaited first-person shooter video game “Star Wars: Battlefront” on the next gen gaming consoles and the PC which is to be on November 17 has been quietly indicated on its website along with the video game’s screenshot.
The same information also hinted that the first public gameplay footage of “Star Wars: Battlefront” will also be unveiled on April 18, reports NDTV Gadgets.
The game is actually the third in a series of similarly-titled video games that is why it is being referred to by gamers as “Star Wars: Battlefront 3.” In reality however, the game’s official title is “Star Wars: Battlefront” and it is technically different from the first two video games.
It will be shown at the Star Wars Celebration to be held in Anaheim, California, and shall officially come out two days after the latest trailer of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” was debuted among throngs of Star Wars fans.
The official website for “Star Wars: Battlefront” features a Stormtrooper riding an Imperial Speeder through the forests of the moon Endor, which is one of the two playable environments that have been confirmed thus far for the game. The other one is the ice-covered planet, ironically named Hoth.
Not coming out simultaneous with the film
The November 17 release date for “Star Wars: Battlefront” on the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, and the PC pretty much dispels previous reports that the video game will come out simultaneous to the showing of the seventh installment of the “Star Wars” movie franchise.
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is scheduled to hit theaters worldwide on December 18.
Early in March, the gameplay trailer of “Star Wars: Battlefront,” developed by Digital Illusion CE (DICE) and to be published by Electronic Arts (EA) has received a standing ovation when it was privately shown at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2015 held at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco, Califonia. It was showcased by EA to select few partners at the GDC 2015 behind closed doors.
Following the closed-door release of the gameplay trailer of “Star Wars: Battlefront,” speculations are now rife that EA may actually release the same footage in the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2015 to be held on June 16-18 at the LA Convention Center in California.
Initial release date possibilities
Initial reports stated that the original release date for the “Star Wars: Battlefront” was supposed to be this coming summer but EA decided to move it to December 2015 so that it will be simultaneous with the release of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”
EA chief executive officer Andrew Wilson gave a hint on the possible release date of “Star Wars: Battlefront” as early as October last year via his Twitter account.
Subsequently, EA chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen confirmed that the video game will be a first-person shooter video game. It is to be EA’s major first-person shooter game for 2015. That is what actually distinguishes it from the first two video games because the previous versions were both a third and first-person shooter video game.
Some of the gamers also believe that EA should add a third-person mode for the game similar to the first two video games. They think that the third-person mode was one of the key selling points of the first two video games so it should be included too.
