Star Wars: Battlefront 3 Initial Previews Mixed!

The release of the new “Star Wars: Battlefront” is approaching fast, and while many players are excited to jump in the game, others are a bit more skeptical and cautious about it, particularly those who have been with the franchise for a longer time and recognize the changes that were introduced to the formula with this installment. Some players are definitely going to enjoy the new style, but those changes might be a bit too much for die-hard fans of the franchise.

It’s clear that EA and DICE have been putting a lot of effort into the game, but they are also seemingly trying to streamline it and make it more accessible to a wider audience, and that might end up detrimental to its success, at least with the older fans of the series.

Initial previews of the game seem to reinforce those fears, as critics have been expressing some slight notes of disappointment from what they got, claiming that this isn’t the new “Battlefront” that many players have been waiting for. Still, those who can deal with the changes or didn’t care about them too much in the first place are most likely going to enjoy the new game, and it looks like they might actually enjoy it a lot.

A journalist who got a chance to play the game at E3 claims that they simply felt “nothing” once they jumped into its world. It didn’t inspire that sense of amazement that the previous games seemed to have for many players, and according to that preview, the game simply feels like it’s missing some core component of its gameplay and style.

TIE Fighters can be seen roaming around the maps now, and this has been one of the more criticized changes. The game doesn’t have any space battles anymore, which means that TIE Fighters now have to be dropped down into the atmosphere and mixed in with the rest of the combat, even though that clashes with the lore from the films somewhat.

There are also some scripted elements in the game, like the Y-Wing bombing runs, which have also drawn some negative comments from previewers. These sequences reportedly feel like they’re taking control away from the player, and this has resulted in a lot of skepticism about the overall feeling of the game. The main problem, according to the general opinion, is the sense of scale that the game is missing compared to its previous installments, and that could actually be a serious issue in the end, and not one that EA can address at this point.
