As can be expected, that was immediately met with a lot of negativity from the franchise’s community, and while we don’t expect the producers to actually go that far, we are curious if this could indicate the general mood behind the scenes.
Is it possible that the people behind “Star Wars 8” are going to try bringing the film out as a surprise? That could hardly work out, considering the film’s launch date is already known, but it is an interesting angle to think about.
It would indeed be peculiar to see the new film coming out with almost no information preceding its release, and it would definitely have an impact on the way fans think about it and receive it. As for critics, that’s a different story – they would not be swayed that easily by marketing tricks.
It’s also interesting to think about how the producers might decide to approach the marketing of the last installment in the current trilogy, if it’s true that they’re going to be more secretive about their work this time. They could easily take things even further for the next film, keeping their fans in the dark even more. But there’s a long time to go until we get to that point, so followers of the “Star Wars” franchise should best focus on the current developments at hand, as they still have about a year left until the next film arrives.
