‘Star Trek Beyond’ to Underpin Some Genuine 50th Anniversary Ideas, Says Simon Pegg!

Fuller’s latest work on the small screen is NBC’s “Hannibal.” He was the creative force behind smart shows like “Pushing Daisies” and “Dead Like Me.” He is also a genuine “Star Trek” fan, who previously landed a writing stint on “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” after submitting a spec script and went on to write and co-produce a good portion of “Star Trek: Voyager.”

In a recent interview, Fuller said that he would like the new “Star Trek” TV series to go back to the spirit and color of the original “Star Trek” since the series has gone cold over the years.

Abrams timeline, or perhaps do a show set on the USS Reliant, the same space ship hijacked by Khan in “Star Trek Into the Darkness,” with Angela Bassett as captain and Rosario Dawson as the first officer.

Over the years, the way people watch TV has evolved a lot since the heyday of “Star Trek: The Next Generation.”

He recalled that at the movie’s height, “Star Trek” was appointment viewing for a huge and diverse audience of nerds.

“Star Trek Enterprise,” an origin series about the fiction’s most famous spacecraft could not survive the onslaught. Even with a visionary like Fuller behind it, it is still not clear if the new TV show could be able to navigate the asteroid field sometime in 2017.
