‘Star Trek Beyond’ to Underpin Some Genuine 50th Anniversary Ideas, Says Simon Pegg!

The third movie in the “Star Trek” reboot “Star Trek Beyond” is due to hit global theaters on July 22, 2016. Overall, the upcoming movie is to be the 13th film in the American science-fiction action film franchise since it began in 1966.

Interestingly, this year marks the 50th Anniversary of “Star Trek” and “Star Trek Beyond” will actually underpin that important milestone in the history of the franchise, confirms Simon Pegg, who plays Scotty in the “Star Trek” reboot.

Pegg is a British comedy actor who is also one of the writers for “Star Trek Beyond.” In a recent interview, the actor cum writer said that “Star Trek Beyond” is going to be spectacular. Aside from the 50th Anniversary ideas, the movie shall also highlight what is happening in the world as well as in the Star Trek world to try to make the film a bit thoughtful too.

“Star Trek Beyond” is the sequel to “Star Trek Into Darkness” released in 2013. The movie is to be directed by Justin Lin from a screenplay by Simon Pegg, Doug Jung, Roberto Orci, John D. Payne, and Patrick McCay.

The “Star Trek” reboot stars Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto as Captain James T. Kirk and Commander Spock, respectively.

The other cast members include Simon Pegg as Scotty; Zoe Saldana as Uhura, Anton Yelchin as Chekov, and John Cho as Sulu. Idris Elba and Sofia Boutella will be the new faces in the franchise beginning in “Star Trek Beyond.”

Wants to sing it to the world

Simon Pegg says that it is difficult for him to keep movie spoilers to himself because if it was all up to him, he would like to sing it to the world.

The actor also had a cameo in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” but his face was nowhere to be seen as he was one of the alien characters in the film.

He, however, said that there is now a culture of spoiler-ism that exists because people want to get their websites traffic and he finds that a little selfish, notes Crossmap.

Pegg said that those sites providing spoilers are essentially destroying the very thing by increments. He said that, if a person, for instance, is going to watch “Star Wars,” he should not bother watching the trailers. He should just wait and be patient. It is always best to sit in the movie house and let it all be a surprise because that is the best way to watch a movie.

But as far as the plotline of “Star Trek Beyond” is concerned, reports have it that the USS Enterprise crew have will be attacked by a powerful, unstoppable wave of unknown aliens, who destroy the Enterprise, leaving them stranded on a new planet where they find themselves in conflict with a new ruthless enemy, even as they try to find a way to get off the planet.

To boldly go where no one has gone before

“Star Trek,” the film franchise, has proudly carved itself in the hearts and minds of its viewers from 50 years ago with its opening sequence where it says that the team of “Star Trek” are tasked to boldly go where no one has gone before.

Apparently, other than the upcoming third movie of the “Star Trek” reboot, a new “Star Trek” TV series is set to debut in 2017.

Reports have it that Bryan Fuller has already been confirmed to take the helm of the upcoming show as showrunner. He is tasked to take the franchise to its latest voyage to the final frontier, notes the Toronto Sun.
