Star Trek: Beyond Filming Underway; Stars to Receive Hefty Pay for 3rd Movie!

Paramount argues that although the first two films did well in the box office, it wasn’t really considered a blockbuster hit like the “Transformers” series and other franchises produced by the studio. Despite receiving criticisms and a lot of mixed reviews, the first “Star Trek” film reboot grossed $385.7 million while the second earned $467 million.

After the third sequel was green-lit, Paramount was willing to give minimal pay raises to the cast, but the stars and their representatives insisted for renegotiations. They made higher pay demands for actors such as Pine and Zaldana because of their popularity.

To cut the long story short, Paramount agreed to the actors’ demands by giving bigger pay raises and performance bonuses for the third film, with lead actor Chris Pine reportedly getting $6 million.

Sources also say that despite the additional $15 million budget allocation for “Star Trek: Beyond,” Paramount still took advantage of the situation by securing its key actors, Pine, who plays Captain James Kirk, and Quinto to star for the film’s fourth installment. No word yet about other cast members being locked for the fourth movie.
