Spider-Man is set to make his debut as the newest addition to the league of superheroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The web-slinging superhero, played by Tom Holland, is expected to make a cameo in the upcoming film “Captain America: Civil War” and then debut on his first solo film on July 28, 2017, to be directed by John Watts.
Spidey’s solo film might be less than two years away, but speculations about it have been making the rounds on the internet quite often.
Recently, speculations have surfaced that Spider-Man is set to sport the red and iron gold costume in the reboot.
The rumor started when “Captain America: Civil War” co-director Anthony Russo attended Brazil’s ComicCon in Sao Paulo over the weekend and vaguely addressed Spider-Man’s costume.
Earlier reports have stated that Peter Parker will be introduced this time as a lesser known vigilante in New York who sports his homemade costume, and when he was later recruited by Tony Stark, he will receive a suit upgrade with Stark-made web-shooters.
When asked whether the high-tech Iron Spider costume as what was featured in Civil War comics will transcend into the 2017 film, Russo teased that the movie will show a mix of what everyone is waiting for with a little twist.
Australia Network News reports that Holland was spotted on the set of “Captain America: Civil War” sporting the classic red and blue Spider-Man costume, but reports say that since it is the first time that Peter Parker’s alter ego will be introduced in the world of Marvel, the studio probably wants to honor the source material.
However, since Stark and Parker will meet in “Captain America: Civil War,” it is possible that the web-slinger might don the Iron Spider suit by his first stand-alone film.
It is a big possibility as Spider-Man is heavily rumored to be joining Iron Man’s side during “Captain America: Civil War.” Although he may probably switch sides as what Spidey did in the comics.
Last week, fans were treated to the first trailer of “Captain America: Civil War” and although it didn’t show any Spider-Man in it, Russo gave away details saying that most of the humorous moments in the third Captain America film will be provided by Holland’s Spider-Man and Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man.
“Captain America: Civil War” is set to hit theaters on May 6, 2016, and will see Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers go against Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man with the rest of Avengers taking sides for a battle that will set the great divide between the Avengers.
Aside from Tom Holland being introduced as the new Spider-Man, Chadwick Boseman will also make his debut as T’challa also known as the Black Panther.
Boseman’s Black Panther will then star in his own movie in February 2018.
As far as Captain America and Iron Man are concerned, there are speculations that the two heroes would make a cameo in the upcoming Spider-Man film.
Recently, Downey Jr. and Evans made an appearance in “Jimmy Kimmel Live” during the launch of “Captain America: Civil War” first trailer and hinted that their characters might be seen in the 2017 film.
During the interview, Downey told Evans that they will be back in Atlanta, where “Captain America: Civil War” was shot, to shoot some scenes again.
Downey adds that Spider-Man will appear in the much-awaited fight scene during “Captain America: Civil War.”
Back in April, the 50-year-old actor assured fans that they won’t be disappointed with the Spider-Man reboot as MCU is going to defy expectations.
The “Iron Man” star’s comments sparked rumors that they were filming their cameo for the latest Spider-Man film, but Marvel has yet to give a confirmation on their participation in the reboot.
The upcoming “Spider-Man” film is the second reboot of the film version of the web-slinging superhero.
Tobey Maguire first portrayed Spidey from 2002-2007 spawning three movies. Andrew Garfield then portrayed Peter Parker and his alter-ego with “The Amazing Spider-Man” shown in 2012 and its sequel released in 2014.
