‘Spider-Man’ Reboot Casting a Real Kid as Peter Parker Prompts Scriptwriters to Write About a Real Kid

Marvel Studios has officially announced 19-year-old Tom Holland as the new star to take on the role of Peter Parker in the upcoming “Spider-Man” movie reboot of the web-crawling superhero as he officially makes his debut in the Marvel cinematic universe.

While the “Spider-Man” movie reboot is due to hit theaters on July 28, 2017, Tom Holland as Peter Parker and Spider-Man will formally be introduced into the Avengers fold with his cameo appearance in “Captain America: Civil War” which would be released on May 6, 2016.

At 19, Tom Holland still looks like a kid, apparently because of his baby face aura. As a matter of fact, he has yet to grow a face hair, making him look even younger than his age.

And for that, he has always been referred to as a kid, including the producers and the writers of the upcoming “Spider-Man” movie reboot.

Film scriptwriters Jonathan M. Goldstein and John Francis Daley disclosed that they would soon be meeting with Marvel to discuss the superhero’s role in the Marvel cinematic universe.

As they were not part of the “Captain America: Civil War” movie, they shall also be given a heads up on how Spider-Man will make his cameo in the movie and also get a likely a glimpse of the new suit, which according to Marvel in its previous announcements will blow people away, notes Screen Rant.

The two writers also confirmed the reports that their writing will be inspired by ‘80s rat pack director John Hughes. Daley said that it will be a John Hughes take on Peter Parker in high school. He confirmed that the story will focus on the character spending more time in high school.

Goldstein added that since Marvel cast a real kid for the role so they are going to write more about a real kid who’s out in high school.

At peace with not getting any superhero role

Actor Jake Gyllenhaal is one of the finest actors in Hollywood today and is quite suited actually to take on any superhero role.

He was previous considered to take on the role of Batman before it was given to Christian Bale, and he was also primed to take on Spider-Man when Tobey Maguire injured his back after falling off a horse while filming the movie “Seabiscuit.” Jake could have continued the role of the web-slinging superhero for “Spider-Man 2” and “Spider-Man 3” but for some reason, Tobey got healed and he did the part two more times.

The movie reboot “The Amazing Spider-Man” series already had Andrew Garfield taking on the role of Peter Parker.

Although it would have been really good for him and his career, Jake Gyllenhaal does not mind missing all the superhero roles because he eventually end up on some interesting movies where he was able to show his acting talents to the fullest, details Cinema Blend.

The actor has chosen not to feel bad about missing out on the superhero roles because of the wide variety of projects he has been able to do in lieu of those superhero movies.
