Regardless, their upcoming projects are already underway and there’s no stopping them, but after that the people running these projects should probably take a step back and reevaluate their direction. Fans have been responding in mixed ways to the representations of different superheroes, and Marvel can learn a lot from those discussions.
Most importantly, they shouldn’t be afraid to make changes to the core ideas behind some of their popular heroes. It might anger some fans in the beginning, but as long as they demonstrate that they have a clear idea in mind and they know where they’re going, they could realistically transform their most iconic heroes into something even more.
The character of Captain America, for example, has undergone some changes that were initially quite controversial among fans and polarized the community strongly, but in the end most people found the character likeable, perhaps more than what they were used to from his comic book representations.
2016 and 2017 will be very interesting for fans of Marvel indeed, especially those waiting for the “Spider-Man” reboot. As soon as we have more concrete information about new characters coming to the movie, we should see some interesting arguments between fans. But of course, the final judgment will only happen in 2017 when the film is ready to be shown to the masses, a time that will be deciding for the fate of the “Spider-Man” brand name.
