‘Spider-Man’ Movie Reboot to Feature New Villains Not Seen in Previous Spider-Man Films

The high-school setting of “Spider-Man” movies has been adopted in both “Spider-Man” and “The Amazing Spider-Man” series featuring Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, respectively.

Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man” was released in 2002, and it follows Peter Parker, played by Tobey Maguire, in his survival through high-school, until the moment he gains his superpowers. The plot then takes a turn, following the murder of his Uncle Ben, played by Cliff Robertson. Parker then realizes that he has the duty to protect New York from murderers and criminals. He then faces Norman Osborn, played by Willem Dafoe who becomes the villain Green Goblin.

Marc Webb’s “The Amazing Spider-Man” was released in 3D and IMAX 3D on July 3, 2012. The movie also focuses on  Peter Parker’s newly gained superpowers while he is in high-school. Parker, played by Andrew Garfield, has to face a new villain named Lizard in an ultimate fight which starts after Lizard finds out Spider-Man’s true identity.

Sony Pictures will finance and release the yet untitled movie reboot of the “Spider-Man” franchise on July 28, 2017. Being the most successful franchise under Sony Pictures, the five films have grossed more than $4 billion worldwide.
