The first official trailer of “Spider-Man: Homecoming” recently came out and it sent shockwaves not only in the US but all over the world.
While the general consensus was that the international trailer of the film is far better than the US trailer, one thing seems certain, the movie is certainly an exciting one.
Fan excitement also shot to the heavens over the trailer of “Spider-Man: Homecoming” as apart from showing Tom Holland as Peter Parker a.k.a. Spider-Man, it also featured Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark and Iron Man.
In fact, towards the end of the trailer, it was shown that Spider-Man and Iron Man were seen flying together to the screen.
Fans may have already gotten a glimpse of Tom Holland’s Peter Parker and Spider-Man and his wisecracks in “Captain America: Civil War” last May, but the movie, judging from its trailer, really feels young. Some critics even aver that the movie appears too young actually.
But then, it was consistent with what Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige said a few months back that they would want to take Tom Holland’s Peter Parker to high school. In fact, Tom Holland could not have put it better with the remark from his Peter Parker character when he said that he is sick of adults treating him like a kid just because he is a kid, details Gizmodo.
A glimpse at the Vulture
The trailer for “Spider-Man: Homecoming” also featured a glimpse of the villain Vulture, played by Michael Keaton.
The villain actually looks like the Green Goblin complete with the Green Goblin glider.
It is just the first official trailer for “Spider-Man: Homecoming” but if it’s any indication, the next ones leading to the movie’s global premiere on July 7, 2017 would surely knock everyone’s socks off.
The debut trailer of “Spider-Man: Homecoming” was actually premiered at the talk show “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on ABC on December 8.
Critics believe that based on the trailer, “Spider-Man: Homecoming” shall ping-pong between Spider-Man’s larger-than-life heroics and his painfully mundane life as a high school student.
Spider-Man versus the Avengers
The first scene of the trailer for “Spider-Man: Homecoming” shows the web-slinging superhero stopping the Avengers in robbing a bank in the Big Apple.
But those are not the real Avengers. They are all robbers who decided to wear Avengers characters for face masks instead of the usual ski masks that typical robbers wear.
Spider-Man then faced off against Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and the Hulk and makes a quick work on the Avengers copycats complete with his annoying and sometimes witty remarks, reports Yahoo! Movies.
The trailer also showed Peter Parker secretly admiring an attractive girl from afar, played by Laura Harrier, before being labeled a loser by his classmate.
Peter’s presumed haplessness becomes a refrain of the trailer. Tony Stark also pops in, and, when Peter asks what kind of test is there to become a real Avenger, he snarks.
It seems that Tony Stark doesn’t think Spider-Man is a prime-time player yet. He was quoted as telling Peter Parker by saying that he knows that school sucks. He also knows Peter wants to save the world. Starks added that Peter Parker is not ready yet.
With the cameo of Spider-Man in “Captain America: Civil War” when it was shown in theaters in May this year, fans and critics were one in saying that the stand-alone film of the web-slinging superhero is going to be a hit as well.
Tom Holland may have ushered a new personality and dimension to Spider-Man in “Spider-Man: Homecoming” but the movie still needed a major pull to make sure that it gets the attention it deserves since it is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Thus, Marvel Studios infused Tony Stark and Iron Man, the most bankable among the Marvel superheroes in the film to ensure that it will not create mere ripples in the box office, it is guaranteed to actually make waves when it hits theater on July 7 next year.
