Sony have been making good progress on the smartphone market, and it’s quite clear that the company knows what their customers want to see right now and how to best engage their audience. They’re one of the companies that have been consistently bringing out products that match the needs of the market and manage to stay in the spotlight long enough to allow the company to gauge reactions as best as possible, and in the end they roll that feedback into their next models in the form of improvements.
Currently, people are waiting to find out more about the Xperia Z6 and what the new phone could bring to the table, as it’s rumored that it could be quite the impressive device with a lot to offer to Android fans. Most of the rumors are talking about the phone’s hardware, but there are also some claims about its software features, including the suggestion that it’s going to ship directly with the most recent version of Android and it will offer a smooth, intuitive experience with the system that makes proper use of the phone’s hardware capabilities.
It’s worth noting that Sony have apparently decided to continue their release style of bringing out flagship devices more often than their competitors, and this is something that has been working out mostly fine for the company in the past. It’s a relatively unique strategy and not the way other companies are working, but it has various benefits for Sony, mainly the fact that it allows them to stay relevant on the market much more easily.
They can also adapt to changes in the current trends more adequately and respond to the way opinions shift, which tends to happen quite often in the modern tech market. The Xperia Z6 will reportedly continue that trend by introducing some design elements that have become very popular on the smartphone market lately, and the company might also experiment with some new ideas that aren’t even that popular yet.
Specifications vary from one rumor to the next, but most are talking about a Snapdragon 820 processor powering the device, along with 4 GB of RAM and various other features that should make people consider the phone very seriously. And since it also ships with Android Marshmallow, fans know that they are getting a full-featured experience with the operating system and won’t be limited in any of its capabilities. Considering that the phone will run on some very powerful hardware, we expect that it will be able to handle the newest Android version very easily and lightly.
The one thing that could potentially disappoint some people is the price tag that’s rumored to be attached to the device, as it won’t be a cheap phone at $800. But still, people buying the Xperia Z6 will at least know what they’re paying for, as the device will most likely justify its price fully if Sony develop it according to the current rumors.
Last but not least, there are also rumors that the device is going to come with additional physical protection, such as the latest version of Gorilla Glass and various other features that should make it a bit more durable than the average smartphone out there. Sony have been putting a lot of effort into making their phones last longer lately, and this can be seen in some of their previous devices, so we expect them to continue this trend in the Xperia Z6 just as well.
SONY has its customer base and prospective buyers so confused about its Z-series that nobody knows what is going on with SONY.
Is it every 6 months, or once a year. Is it Z3+ or Z4? SONY needs to get it all together with the Z6…it may be their last chance to make a big hit in the smartphone arena.
SONY cannot compromise anything with the Z6. All the best specs and features must be present and work flawlessly with the Z6, otherwise it may be the end for SONY.
The Z6 should have SD820 processor (with absolutely no over-heating issues), 4GB RAM, expandable SD-slot, Gorilla Glass, plus all the great features of the Z5. As for the Play Station feature, it’s a totally superfluous feature that should be dropped in favor of other more relevant features, like improved reliability, better customer support & service, better camera, etc.
Seems that all the SONY phones have always been a little short on specs here and there. The Z6 needs to be not just “good enough” but really great to compete with the big dogs, like Apple and Samsung. “Good enough” is no longer good enough. SONY needs to make sure the Z6 is the world’s best smartphone with the best and most-wanted high-end features, starting with the world’s best and fastest smartphone camera.
SONY needs to advertise the hell out of the new Z6 on TV and print media everywhere; price it to sell (SONY phones are too expensive); release it in the USA on all the main carriers, and sell it totally unlocked on their own website; then (most important) they need to back up their product with world-class in-store local customer service and support (like Apple). So far, SONY sucks at all of the above, and this is why they cannot sell their phones.
And why did SONY close all of their retail mall stores in the USA? Where are we supposed to go to see, touch and ask questions about their products? And why does SONY not sell the latest phones on their USA website? Stupid. The USA is the biggest and most affluent and most important market place in the world. Instead they are focusing their resources on selling their $800+ phones in India and Southeast Asia, where most people cannot even afford to buy a loaf of bread. What is SONY thinking?
Release dates: once a year is best. More frequently is too often, not giving their customers enough time to enjoy their new phone and not giving their own development staff time to make sufficient improvements from one model to the next to be worth it.
And, one more thing….SONY produces way too models of smartphones. This is very costly and confusing for the prospective buyer. Apple is incredibly successful with only 2 models. SONY, keep it simple.
I want to buy a SONY Z6 when it comes out…..if it’s everything it should and could be. I have been waiting for the Z-series to “get it right” for a couple of years, but SONY always seems to come in a little short-handed. And if they don’t sell it in the USA with a top-notch customer support, I will be forced to buy something else….probably an Apple 7 this coming fall.
I wonder how many other people are getting tired of waiting for SONY to give us the world’s best smartphone, and end up buying something else instead?
