Sony has been drumbeating about the imminent release of its latest flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z4, sometime in early 2015.
Along with it is the bigger Sony Xperia Z4 Ultra, which is tantamount to the September 2014 release of the Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
Word has it that the Sony Xperia Z4 would be released in January 2015 while the Sony Xperia Z4 Ultra would officially roll out in March 2015, just to show a deviation from Apple’s strategy.
Sony has not made any official announcement however of the release dates of its latest smartphone offerings.
It is not just Apple which has been doing that. Samsung and the other major smartphone manufacturers do it – launching of two smartphone models at the same time or one after the other, one being a smartphone, the other a cross between a smartphone or a tablet which is now termed as a phablet – too.
More from Sony
Sony appears intent to deviate out of the typical strategy by releasing a third smartphone to go with its latest flagship handset.
In addition to Xperia Z4 and Xperia Z4 Ultra, Sony is already preparing the groundwork for the rollout of Xperia Z4 Compact also in 2015 that would somehow complete the Z4 triumvirate.
A new concept image created by designer Wan Mal, and reported by Christian Today, shows that the Sony Xperia Z4 Compact is the smaller and low-spec version of the company’s upcoming flagship smartphone.
Despite average specifications, the Xperia Z4 Compact offers major improvements over its predecessor, the Xperia Z3 Compact, launched by Sony in 2014, along with the Xperia Z3, the company’s current flagship handset.
