Sony will be launching its first new smartphone for 2015 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 to be held at Barcelona, Spain on March 2 to 5. And surprisingly, it would not be its latest flagship smartphone and the highly-anticipated Sony Xperia Z4.
Instead, the Japanese smartphone maker will be launching the more affordable Sony Xperia E4 which it will be positioning in the mid-range market, details Yahoo! News.
Reports have it that the mid-range handset looks very dazzling and for its price, it has very impressive processor speeds, RAM, and internal storage. However, what makes it stand out among other mid-range smartphones in the market today is its long battery life, just about right screen size, and camera quality, which has been trademark Sony ever since.
The Sony Xperia E4 shall also come with an Android mobile operating system and if Google stays true to its promise that it will roll out the Android 5.1 Lollipop before the end of February, it is likely that the mid-range handset will also come with the updated Android version.
Impressive features
The Sony Xperia E4 will have a 5-inch QHD display. It is not the top-of-the-line resolution as that belongs usually to its flagship smartphones, but it is quite good enough for web browsing, gaming, as well as streaming video contents.
The smartphone’s 960×540 pixel display does not also take its heavy toll on the device’s battery life, which is the Xperia E4’s biggest feature and advantage over any other mid-range handsets. In fact, Sony is proud to say that the Xperia E4 is the only smartphone in the market today that can be used continuously for two days without being charged.
The main reason for this is the fact that the smartphone automatically switches to stamina mode when battery reserves become low. The mode will automatically limit the power background apps as well as adjust screen brightness to keep things going a little longer.
The Xperia E4 also features an extreme stamina mode that can actually keep the phone alive not just for two days but for one whole week. But then, that would mean that the handset shall shut down everything other than the smartphone’s main functions.
Unmatched battery life advantage
The Sony Xperia E4 has the best and unmatched battery life among today’s smartphones and the Japanese smartphone maker does not believe it is overkill. In fact, Sony thinks it is a great feature for those who are planning to hie off in the wilderness or go nature-tripping for a good number of days, and who will find it difficult to get access to a power outlet.
The mid-range handset also has great integrated camera features including automatic scene recognition and image enhancing for the main rear-facing 4-megapixel unit. It also comes with a front-facing 2-megapixel camera with dedicated selfie app.
Sony has yet to announce the price of the Xperia E4 but it says that the company would give it a highly competitive pricing.
