We’ve been hearing a lot about Elio Motors lately, even though the company still hasn’t released its first product yet. There is a lot of attention focused on them right now, and many people see a lot of potential in the company for revolutionizing the market for personal transportation. The company is likely going to present its product soon, and until then various members of the media continue to speculate about what we could possibly see on the big day.
Smithsonian Magazine have recently included the Elio vehicle in their Future Is Here Festival, held on May 16-17, and focused on exploring the current hot topics in futuristic technology. Companies like Elio are the ones moving the technology field forward and bringing us into an era we can truly call “the future”, and it’s great to see that they’re getting the recognition they deserve.
Paul Elio, CEO and founder of the company, said that he’s proud to be part of the event, and sees it as a huge recognition for the achievements of him and his workers. He believes that the company’s vehicle is the future of ultra high mileage transportation, and he is determined to make sure that the release of the vehicle will have the right kind of impact on the American market and manufacturing.
The vehicle will feature great gas mileage but also a low base price, making it the ideal option for budget-conscious buyers who want to make sure that they won’t have to pour a lot of money in their cars in the long run. There are also rumors that the vehicle will be easy to maintain and won’t require any complex, expensive procedures, so that should also play into the company’s favor. But with a starting price of less than $10,000, it should be a total hit on the market once it’s out.
In order to realize their goal, Elio Motors have taken a unique approach to the design of the vehicle, removing one of the wheels in order to create a combination between a motorcycle and a regular four-wheeled car. While that might seem like a strange idea at first, it reportedly works quite well, and it’s also a better driving experience for those who only drive in urban environments.
However, it has also created some problems for the company, as some states didn’t want to classify the vehicle as a car, instead putting it in the same category as motorcycles due to its three-wheel design. This could have been a major problem for Elio as it would require drivers to wear a helmet at all times.

–BEWARE– Elio Motors has been taking ‘RESERVATIONS’ for 2 ½ years, but is still short $230 MILLION needed to reach ‘production’. In fact, their $100 – $1,000 reservations DO NOT guarantee that you will ever get a vehicle; “ we are under no obligation to supply you with a vehicle. “ And when asked, they refuse to provide which ‘reputable financial institution’ is responsible for their “Refundable” escrow account. They have NOT BUILT nor TESTED one complete Pre-Production Prototype with operable systems to ‘validate their claims’ of fuel economy, or safety!
